• Description

  He is of lean build and less than average height, definitely built for dexterity, not strength. He could definitely not be called beautiful, but his charisma is overwhelming. His deep black eyes and bewitching gaze have been known to charm peasants, nobles, and even royals everywhere. A thief, mercenary, smuggler, spy, con-man and all around criminal, Diago knows his way around a life of subterfuge, larceny, and deception. He moves in a swift, sure, agile way, and it somehow seems that his presence is so unintrusive it renders him nearly invisible. When he steps, he is like a shadow, making nearly no sound at all even when he isn't trying to sneak. He dresses in gray, brown, and black, and he seems to always pick the kind of tone that is most like the environment he is in. A passionate smoker of opium, he is hopelessly addicted to the drug. There is a great passion he has for the pipe, and left without a smoke, his smoothness and politeness is all replaced by aggressive, nervous nature, and if he abstains further, he quite quickly turns into a baby that can do nothing but weep for his drug. Years of smoking have reducted his ability to breathe, and often he runs out of breath or breaks into a violent cough at most inappropriate moments. His dashing, reckless performance is a pure show; he is in fact a great coward, and will panic faced with true fear. He lacks all faith whatsoever, having absolutely no trust in God or the Church. He is very morally flexible; has a compassion for poor people, especially whores, orphans, thieves and beggars. He is not a violent man and avoids killing or hurting people whenever possible.

• Biography

  His mother was a beautiful woman, but little Diago could watch her wither away slowly over the years, plagued by the diseases she'd caught from many men that had bedded her, so that she could feed herself; one of these men was Diago's father, but not even his mother knew who. Diago still had all his first teeth when her agony was over, and the little boy, full of grief and confusion, set the poor shack on fire together with his young mother's body, and ran.
  
  He ran away into the city, among the people, where he could get lost in the crowd. But quite soon, he was caught and recruited by a gang of boys and men like him, all bastard sons, orphans, criminals, or plain scoundrels. Years passed, and unlike many of his comrades, he was lucky. He observed, and learned from their mistakes. He was taught many valuable lessons, about how dishonesty is a way to get by, stealing is a way to eat, betrayal is a way to stay safe, and murdering is a way not to be murdered. But deep inside him, he knew there had to be another way. He joined the military in hopes of a good career. It was not very long before he was heavily wounded in battle, and was later, helpless to resist, sold to the enemies by his own comrades at arms. That is when he finally realized there was no such thing as a better life, and he was right to have betrayed people himself. After spending a few days in prison, recovering, he managed to escape. He had to leave Spain, so he went on his way, to find other places to call home, but each one turned out to be just another station, a place to take what there was to be taken and run before he is caught. Countless times he was, and he had developed a notoriety in many places. People would talk about him as almost a legend; once he even heard a story about himself that spoke of him escaping right out of a hangman's noose during a public execution.
