• Appearance

  A dark, shambling figure obscured under a heavy black cloak, giving off vibes of the grim reaper himself. In his younger years, he was a rather handsome man of Latino descent, but one would not be able to deduce any of this now. The clothing hides a person more skeleton then man, with half of his face rotted away completely to reveal the dry white bone underneath, and the other half covered in mummified green skin. The bits of bone poking through the leathery skin on his hands and his long, rotted black hair suggests that the entirety of him is in a similar state. He has no remaining eyes, nose, or ears but somehow seems to be able to perceive his environment despite this. His fragile frame seems to imply that he might crumble to dust from rough contact.
  
  Almost never seen in anything other then his tattered old cloak, as he's far too frightened to reveal his appearance to others.

• Robles Curse

  The Robles family curse was placed by Mael-Coluim Faulkner upon his death as revenge for the slaying of his wife by Anacleto Robles. Because Coluim took his own life shortly after laying the curse, the clause by which it could potentially be broken is unknown, and it has stayed with the direct descendants of the family for many generations since.
  
  Affecting the first born son of each marriage, the curse goes undetectable until the cursed individual commits an act of violence with jealousy in their heart. Afterward, any injuries received will refuse to heal and instead begin to worsen and fester. Even a small cut could potentially result in a large open wound that will eventually expand to the rest of the body. The cursed individual is rendered essentially immortal once the curse is active, as their body will eventually become entirely mummified.
  
  The only son of Anacleto Robles, Malchor was the first member of his family to be affected by and activate the curse. This occurred when he helped to fight off assailants who were harassing a young woman named Katrina Robles whom Malchor secretly admired. Although his intentions were good, he fell victim to feeling a slight amount of jealousy over other men paying attention to his love, and a cut that he received on his cheek during the scuffle began to fester and eventually turned gangrenous. Malchor remains the most advanced case of the curse among his family, with very little of his body left after over 100 years of immortality.

• Personality

  Child [1840s]
  
  A timid, perpetually fearful boy deeply damaged by his father's abusive behavior. Used to hiding away and making himself scarce, he is nonetheless a sweet and imaginative child. He and Alastair are best friends, and the slightly older Alastair often acts as Malchor's bodyguard.
  
  Youth [1850s - 1900]
  
  After his widowed mother remarries, he is adopted and raised by his wealthy stepfather, and afforded every luxury available. An image as an upstanding young gentlemen is contrasted by his ever-present nerves, which often result in in-eloquent stuttering and a tendency to break down under pressure. Although no longer in an abusive environment, the emotional scars from his child remain, molding him into a quiet introvert. He's notoriously bookish, although he may mingle with other men of his station if only to uphold an image for his family. Malchor is a coward, often hiding behind others for protection. He's nonetheless a kindly person, and affectionate towards his loved ones.
  
  He's considered attractive by many young women, although he's eternally bashful tends to shy away from most female affection. There is one young lady that eventually captures his attention, however. Around the age of 18, he marries Katrina, a selkie woman, and a year later they have their first child, a daughter named Louisa. As a family man, Malchor is easy-going but doting to his wife and child, and proves to be a far better father then his own. After a scuffle, a seemingly harmless cut on his cheek has become infected and irritated. He scratches at the wound unconsciously, as though it's a constant bother to him.
  
  Adult [1900s-Present]
  
  Truly a figure of the shadows, Malchor often moves in a way that makes his presence undetectable, which is how he would prefer it. As his body is in the advanced stages of decay, it's unsafe for him to be seen in public, and thus most of his days are spent hidden away in the home he shares with his wife, or wandering the surrounding wilderness in order to have free space to breathe. To those who know him however, he's a surprisingly good humored man with a a gentle wisdom and as harmless as his appearance would suggest he's not. On most sunny days, he can be found lying in the fork of his favorite tree, napping or enjoying the weather.
  
  Despite the terrors of his condition, Katrina has remained by his side and their marriage is stronger then it ever was. However, Malchor often struggles to come to terms with the state of his body, and at times has a tendency to push others away for their own protection. He's fearful of rejection and has never truly lost the deeply seeded anxiety that has plagued him for his entire life. Now, it manifests in the form of desperate hatred for his own condition, which occasionally turns to thoughts of how he might end his life. With the support of Alastair, Katrina and his three children, he manages some semblance of stability, but it's impossible to say how long this can last.
