Myles Rorce

General Skills/Abilities

[While a 4 or 5 implies at or near mastery, it does not necessarily mean confidence. Myles has a 1 in Sea Legs, but he will still put on a brave face and try not to seem like most of his time on a boat about to vomit. At the same time, Myles is well rounded in combat ability, but firmly believes a master of a combat art could best him, even though they may not have even half his combat experience.

Strengths

Mountaineer
Myles is a mountain lion, and true to the name he is exceptionally well suited to the type of environment. He truly is at home among the cliffs and the cold of the bone chilling altitudes. He is at his best here, and little about the temperatures or the terrain will slow him down like it might others. That said, while he could spend an entire afternoon in nothing but his skivvies on a freezing cliff, Myles would very much prefer anything but. Such climates are home to him, but given any other option, he'd be the first to seek the nearest hot spring amongst the snow to escape it.

Hunter-Gatherer
Myles chief specialty is wilderness survival. And the majority of his skillset is well catered towards that. Most notably in his favored profession, seeking rare and or exotic ingredients, reagents, or substances. If he knows where it may be found and the ideal conditions in which the item(s) appear, there is quite little that will keep him from finding them.

Noble Tact:
A pretty simple skill as a whole. As a whole it implies Myles is reasonably well versed in the etiquette of those of high society. While visually Myles certainly does not dress the part of nobility, his connections still earn him a place in get-togethers as an object of curiosity from a strange land. His self-proclaimed exile only truly holds any weight in his homeland of Mra'Luna in the eyes of foreign nations. As such, at such gatherings he's like to find a suitor or two, and have his ear talked off about beneficial trade between the Zira'zen and their own assets. Normally Myles wouldn't be too keen to participate if it wasn't for the fact such appearances do grant him advantages in the way of information and inside knowledge from the perspectives of those he'd truthfully rather avoid. Also the food and liquor is usually really good.

Sketching:
Myles is a rather avid practitioner in drawing the object(s)/or person(s) in front of him. It is fairly typical to see him idly lounging with a sketchbook in hand, drawing the scene in front of him for practice. When he's not on a tight schedule to obtain a resource, he often takes time to sketch an image of the object he seeks, taking notes along with it, smell, texture, and even adding notable effects and uses he's learned in encyclopedias and the like. This has become a rather essential resource to him since he can't exactly steal the books that tell him about what he seeks, lest he face trouble with guards or worse. The sketches becoming an invaluable resource to his work and a hobby along the way.

Loyal:
If there was one thing never to question of Myles's character, it was his loyalty. It was one of the few things if questioned could spark anger within him. For so many things and people, he has spilled his blood, wielded his powers to the point he might seem a husk, even found himself behind bars when the reason was good enough. There were limits of course. Dying for a cause was one could only do once. That sort of loyalty he found insane even in the most admirable of cases. But if it was within his power, and trust was earned, he'd go to hell and back. Often this marked him as naïve at times, but he wasn't blind to that perception either. The only reason he was even away from Mra'Luna was because his loyalty never once faltered. Truly in the depths of his increasingly skeptical heart he believed in loyalty, and if not loyalty, devotion above all else. To deny such sacrifices made in devotion to others were worth their weight, such would ultimately invalidate much of his own existence. No, for him, he could accept nothing less. Though his doubts in the world and others had only increased as the years passed, if he could not have faith in another's loyalty, much less his own, then a dark path most certainly awaited him.

Weaknesses

Isolation

If you want to break Myles. Really and truly hurt him mentally. You trap him. Alone, with no way out. His first life taken was at a young age, and proved that he was somewhat resilient. Nothing compared to the tortures of being hunted in the freezing mountains. Alone, hiding, near freezing to death, often wounded, again and again. A terrified young boy, tortured by his own thoughts, uncertain if persevering his own life was worth the trouble, or even the right thing anymore.

Hot Climates

Myles's species is highly adaptive, however he is extremely out of place where the heat is great. While he is capable of surviving in such environments due to experience, he will not survive long without ample resources compared to those much more appropriate fur types, exposure and comfort in such environments, and overall affinities for such climates.

Reckless

Myles quite simply a bit of a fool at times when the stakes are low. A combination of countless life or death experiences has left him prone to fast and often painful solutions for problems that could require less haste and more tact.

All other times, Myles can be expected to be 'mostly' professional.

Singing:
Don't ask him, for your own sake. Myles isn't opposed to singing, and at softer notes he has a decent voice. But if he must sing a high note, cover your ears. As a cougar, his vocal range at higher pitches has a habit of becoming an ominous screech that more fit for a wild demon than a well mannered feline.

Bartering:
Put simply, he's not especially good at handling his coin. He's gotten better, but more often than not he'd much rather trade services and resources over coin if it is an option. This is part of why his own services typically never have what one would refer to an 'industry rate,' but rather placed as rough estimates based on the amount of work the task requires of him.

Martial Discipline:
Myles is a very experienced in combat. However his formal training is extremely minimal. He can lay out an ambush, set traps, and knows where the flow of an encounter will shift, and typically knows quickly when he's outmatched. But, without formal training, extremely skilled foes in his eyes have the upper hand. Techniques, tactics, and advanced usages of their weapons leave Myles at a distinct disadvantage. While Myles has expanded his abilities to the limits of his imagination, he lacks a true mastery of most of his skills, and those better trained he feels have just the edge they need to catch him off guard. And from his experience, that is an advantage that easily could mean his death.

Possessive:
If he likes something, he's rather apt to want to acquire it for himself. Part of him did so because life is so fleeting that to avoid going after what one desires may as well be a missed opportunity. The other part was simple greed, a bit of a failing in his morality that refused to acknowledge some things were simply not meant to be his. Still, once he felt he had something in his possession, he struggles to loosen his grip upon it. In some ways, this might be considered endearing. He is committed to his desires, often blinding himself to realities, thrashing before he ever let go. For so long he'd been wanderer, a vagrant to lands beyond. So little in his life was permanent. At times he'd wonder, maybe something truly permanent in his life was what he coveted most. And if that something existed, who knows just how far he'd go to keep it.
