• Personality

  Hill is a do-gooder; always looking out for other people and striving to leave his mark on the world. He is desperate for approval and respect, after years of rejection from family and friends, and now lets that feeling of inadequacy drive him in the success of his heroic career. He is a capable man, but he is not confident--that is something he is working on every day. Constantly, uncertainties continue to nag at the back of his mind, perpetuated by the fact that he cannot fully control his powers, the bad decisions he has made, and the blame he is constantly pushing onto himself.
  
  Since being promoted to leader of his Vanguard unit in Sparris City, California, Hill works to find the potential in himself that Vanguardian apparently saw in him. He is focused, determined, and a capable leader who thinks quickly and acts accordingly. He cares about his teammates, sees them as family, and grows a little bit stronger every day.

  Energy Conversion:
  Capable of absorbing a wide spectrum of energies through contact or close proximity, which his body can then convert at will into a separate type of energy for expulsion. While it has been determined that he can manipulate any known energy type on Earth, the more volatile the type of energy, the more difficult it is to control and maintain.
  Weaknesses:
  He is far from controlling his abilities, and wears an exo-skeleton built into his spine that aids in his control. Absorbing too much energy can result in a dangerous 'meltdown'.

  His energy abilities allow for self-propelled flight of varying speeds, depending on the form of energy he uses for projection.

• Biography

  Hill was born in a rural town where not much of anything happened to anyone. His parents were farmers and he was destined for the same, until his powers began to manifest during early-puberty. Energy seemed drawn to him, their power was constantly being sucked up, he was damaging property and finding it difficult to control. His parents couldn't handle it, they were conservative sorts and thought their son had been possessed by the devil. They sent him away to relatives in the city, but before long they couldn't handle him either, and he was cast out again. He wound up in a half-way house with other teenagers, but even there, his abilities were strange and scary to people. He felt rejected, desperate for answers and control. He was approached by The Doctor, who offered to take his powers away for him, and he gladly accepted.
  Years later he was living happily as a normal man, without the powers to burden him. He was now eighteen, about to graduate high school and living with his relatives in the city, even thinking about proposing to his high school sweetheart, when she was taken hostage during the attack of a federal bank. Distraught and desperate, Hill returned to the Doctor in hopes of reclaiming his powers and rescuing her. The Doctor accepted, but at a cost. He managed to rescue his girlfriend and other hostages and catch Vanguard's eye in the process, but originally declined membership. That was, until his girlfriend ended things with him--too shaken by her experiences to be with him--and he reluctantly accepted membership. Years later, he's been promoted to leader.
