- Having lost the will to do much of anything due to his apathetic nature and caring about little else other than Papyrus, Sans is quite literally drained both mentally and physically almost all of the time. His want to do much of anything is practically nonexistent and as such little things like teleporting or being lugged around by his brother is just another lack of effort on his part and something Sans is greatly appreciative of.
- Shopkeepers/NPCs that sell items have a tendency to be invulnerable to attack due to an in-universe rule that prevents initiating any fights with anyone who is actively selling something. Utilizing this weird mechanic and considering his dangerously low HP, Sans is mostly able to keep himself safe and alive. It his primary method to avoid hostile encounters. Sans is a ridiculous peddler of anything.
- Sans is capable of falling asleep just about anywhere. It stems from a deeply rooted depression and the fact that he's juggling multiple jobs at once to support him and Papyrus. He also utilizes these little catnaps to try and catch up on sleep he is otherwise unable to get at night due to his tendency for having night terrors.
- A fat-kid at heart, Sans loves to eat. It certainly explains his big-boned physique. If offered food of just about any variety, so long as it's trashy and covered in grease, he will gladly accept. He is also the type to take the time to lament over a fallen ice cream cone. Such a waste!
- Yes, ketchup. It's the stuff dreams are made of and if drank in excess, can totally waste the little skeleton. He was never one to hold his 'booze' well. And if offered the harder stuff -- a V8, for example -- Sans will become one of two things: a blithering comedian for all to lavish in his brandishing sense of humor or a melancholic depressionist incapable of facing the cruelties of reality.
- Sans has a low and drawling, tired-sounding tone that resonates deeply implicating his lethargy and detached perseverance for the sake of reasons beyond him. He jokes because it keeps him grounded and can be soft-spoken and assuring despite the worn, tattered edges of his half-hearted articulations. Sans is equally capable of a well-composed and underlying malice that can range from ominously jocular to a patient malevolence. He doesn't enunciate well and has a tendency to slur his words together -- perhaps another effort he has no interest in applying himself to when the communication itself is still being achieved.
- Sans hides his talents well, but underneath all that fluff and indifference, he can muster some pretty artistic feats. A dancer, a painter, a philosopher, a physicist, an avid gamer and nerd -- a regular renaissance man at heart.
- Humans are a hit or miss for Sans. He has a general distrust toward them considering his only encounter with a human was a rather negative experience that occurred when he was a child. His history with and the references of humans offer him little reprieve of their enmity, and Sans is already a bit of a fatalist as it is, so he has no qualms remaining stand-offish, if not a bit more than neutral toward them upon meeting them.
- Despite how in tune with the space-time continuum and alternate realities Sans claims to be, there are some serious shortcomings he suffers from on a more personal basis. Sans is overly insecure and has little to no self-worth. He could never imagine ever finding true love or a friendship that lasts longer than a few good puns, so instead, he attaches himself through co-dependent lengths to those he has come to truly treasure, i.e. Papyrus, Grillby, Undyne, etc.
- Sans absolutely abhors making promises. Wrecked with guilt from previous occasions he was unable to keep them, Sans has determined that the end result will always wind up in heartache and disappointment. He settled to never make another promise again and is adamant in his stance to the extent that he will avoid doing so at all costs.
- A freelance opportunity at employment more accordant to Sans and his penchant for a good joke occurs when a certain flamboyant robot is in need of extraordinary comedic talent at his infamous MTT Resort. There Sans will leave 'em in stitches with his whimsical repertoire, quick-witted one-liners, and burlesque outlook on their otherwise dismal existence.
- Sans is a short, big-boned skeleton typically wearing a blue hoodie with fur trim or a simple pull-string jersey jacket which is left unzipped at all times, with a white shirt, black track shorts with a vertical white trim, and sometimes a pair of socks beneath either pink, fluffy house slippers or rather unkempt, blue sneakers that are generally left untied due to his unconcerned nature. This is his default appearance and is subject to change for whatever reason. It is simply stated for reference sake.
- Sans' nihilism stems from his knowledge of multiple timelines and the SAVE ability, knowing that even if monsters escape the Underground, the timeline will be reset and the monsters will just end up back in the Underground without retaining their memories. Sans is also fully aware that his own life is already forfeit under certain circumstances in most universes yet he is unsure if being somewhat aware of the timeline resetting has broken his spirit, knowing that everything he does will mean nothing or if he's just using it as an excuse to slack off.
- Since he and his brother, Papyrus, were but mere babybones, the two had a rather large soft spot for the delicate, fluffy sweetness of the marshmallow. Something about the sugar-based confection set well with the brothers and with it memories that had long since been lost to them. Sadly, there is no recollection as to where their love for that treat had even originated... The memory simply eludes them entirely upon attempting to recall it. It is a rather painful process to even try.
- Upon meeting the Sovereign of the Wild, the Lady of the Light, the Queen of the Unicorns, Sans is filled with an unfamiliar peace of mind. The sensation is unlike anything the skeleton had ever experienced and almost immediately Sans is able to pick up on the deity's power, which he discovers upon checking the equine magistrate, goes well beyond a mere monster's comprehension, even one so keen and as in tune with the unexplained as he thought he was. Nevertheless, this matriarchal being has granted Sans an unaccustomed sense of stability. The two has built a friendship through silent appreciation and soon Sans has developed an almost child-like relationship with the Mother of all Things and affectionately refers to her as 'Mam,' 'Mammy', and 'Mama-corn.' To him, she is like a halcyon day, when it is quiet and serene, Unicorn is a reprieve from the chaos.
