  A good character to look at for a comparison of body size and muscle build is James Marsters back when he was younger and played Spike on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. Gareth's physical appearance is almost identical to Spike, but slightly more muscular, much taller, and more "well built". Because Spike is awesome.

  Dislikes: Peace, being bored, diplomacy, waiting, annoying women, Stellvira, being told what to do, cops, stupid young kids who think they're gangsters, pretty much anything that's not violent.
  
  Gareth could easily be described as a psychopath with a love of gore and violence and a crazy thirst for blood. If violence was like American Football, Gareth would be the MVP Quarterback on the Super Bowl champion team. He's violent and completely insane. An insane lifetime of death and killing formed Gareth into the killing machine he is today. Gareth is such a loon that he killed his own parents for no reason other than he was bored, and he continues to treat killing as nothing major. To him, human life has no value, no life has any value, except of course for his beloved Angel. Even she may not be safe, however, as Gareth is notorious for "getting bored" with his longterm girlfriends, as you will find out if you read his short history.
  
  Over the course of his life, Gareth has been responsible for over two thousand human deaths and a much smaller number of non-human deaths. Four of the biggest "killfests" he took part in were the Battle of Thermopylae, World War I, World War II, and the Bosnian War. All of these events were like parties for the maniacal Gareth. The only good part is that he played a major role in helping the Allied Powers in both WW1 and the western-front of WW2, and received a great deal of monetary compensation, as he was working for the US military under contract along with Selene, Reed, and Lucian.

• Short History

  Gareth is a Shinigami who killed his own parents for no reason other than he was bored. Afterwards, he heads out to the human world, where he takes part in a great many historical events. Later in his life, Gareth joins a group of Shinigami known as "Schwarz Tod", Black Death later changed to "Die Schwarz Fünf", The Black Five. The group, consisting of Gareth, Selene, Reed, Lucian, and Katarina. Gareth eventually grows sick of his girlfriend, Katarina, and leaves her alone, naked in the middle of a desert. During the 20th Century, the group takes part in a great many wars, during which Gareth himself kills hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Two alternate stories exist for what happens next, but I'll give both briefly.
  
  In the roleplay series, Gareth leaves Die Schwarz Fünf and begins dating Angelus Loyanta. The new group he travels with engage in many different adventures, most of the time being opposed by a massive evil entity simply called "The Corporation".
  
  In the screenplay series, Gareth comes to Novalite Valerine for help protecting him from an Gorbachev International Corporation. Out of the kindness of her heart, Nova helps Gareth, who later plays a major role in the downfall of Gorbachev.

• Biography

  Gareth was born in the Shinigami Realm to Gabriel and Marina, both Shinigami. The Shinigami realm was a place destroyed from age and overuse. At the age of 22, Gareth suffered a mental breakdown and killed both his parents. As he stood over their bodies, he felt a sense of power that led him to become who he is today. After killing his mother and father, Gareth abandoned the Shinigami realm for the more promising planet of Earth. While on Earth, Gareth traveled to Ancient Greece, Egypt, the Roman Empire, and many other exciting historical destinations.
  
  When the winter of 1872 came about, Gareth moved to the newly formed German Empire. There, in a bar, he met Selene, another Shinigami. Selene made a proposal to Gareth: keep living his life the way he had been, or join her and the crew of mercenaries she desired to form and lead. Gareth chose the latter. From there, the two traveled around Germany for five years before coming across another Shinigami, Reed. Reed had been living life going from social event to social event and getting as many women as he could to follow him to bed. When asked to join the new team, Reed saw it as an opportunity to hook up with attractive foreign women and accepted. At the same party where they met Reed was yet another Shinigami, Lucian. Lucian quickly accepted the offer proposed to him by Selene.
  
  The next destination for the team was Paris, France in 1879, where they met a female Shinigami named Katarina. Katarina belonged to a wealthy and powerful family, and expressed a desire to join the group. Her parents did not like the idea of their daughter running off with a bundle of crooks, and as so, resisted Selene’s attempts at persuasion. Gareth, who had fallen in love with the young and clingy Katarina, killed her parents by her request. Amil, a sworn protector of the family, witnessed the murders and watched helplessly, as he was locked in his bedroom and was unable to do anything but peer under the door. The group also had a name now, "Schwarz Tod", Black Death. They performed many criminal acts together: assassination, theft, everything. By 1898, Gareth had gotten sick of Katarina and her clinginess. The group traveled to the Nevada Desert on a job, where Gareth stripped Katarina and left her alone and naked to find her own way in the middle of the desert.
  
  In 1900 Reed’s parents came to Earth after hearing of Reed’s recent actions, and demanded he return home. Gareth did not take this demand in a good manner, and responded by killing both of them, an action which Reed only laughed about, as he no longer had any care for them.
  
  The group was hired by the Allies in both World War 1 and World War 2. They fought on D-Day and joined up with the Soviet Union forces during the Battle of Berlin. It was in fact Lucian who found the Fuhrerbunker and what was left of Adolf and Eva Hitler’s remains. They also fought in the Vietnam Conflict, but left after a few years, as Gareth had gotten bored with it and sick of being caught in traps that left him stuck in awkward positions whereas a normal person would have been killed.
  
  During 1994, the group took part in the Bosnian War. There, they killed over 2000 people, all of which remain unlisted on casualty counts. Civilians and military were all horribly murdered. Gareth, Selene, and Lucian mostly targeted military, as they enjoyed the slight challenge, whereas Reed targeted civilians, mostly women, and raped them. This remains the most significant event for Gareth in his past, as he was responsible for countless deaths. He looks back at it with a feeling of nostalgia, wishing every day that he could encounter something as glorious as that slaughter again. The group's participation in the Bosnian War is also significant in that they slaughtered huge numbers of people, yet were only caught on video and in pictures a few times, meaning that the outside public and the people of other countries, even those in the NATO peacekeeping forces, were almost completely unaware of their presence.
  
  Following Bosnia, Schwarz Tod decided to rename themselves in order to have a better public appearance to their clients. The group adopted the name "Die Schwarz Fünf", The Black Five. This new name was never accurate, however, as it was reference to the original five of the group: Gareth, Selene, Reed, Lucian, and Katarina. Katarina had long been gone, and Lucian left the group a few years after the renaming, as he claimed it had become dull. Selene, Gareth, and Reed continued the group.

• Alternative Bio Continuations

  The rest of Gareth Laird's biography is broken into two main versions: the RP series and the screenplay series (officially recognized).
  
  
  ROLEPLAY SERIES
  
  Series of Epicness
  In early 2012, Gareth was still working with Selene and Reed, and was eager to get some killing done. The group was quickly hired by an organization known as “The Corporation” and were given a contract to kill or capture two people of interest: a shinigami named Angelus and a lumivone named Stell. The two were being sheltered by a rich young genius named Novalite Valerine, who had her own personal security forces guarding their location.
  
  Gareth decided to lead the first assault alone, figuring that the two targets and their entirely human support wouldn't possess much of a challenge for him and the small force of Corporation soldiers that were deployed to aid him. The plan worked in the beginning, with Gareth and his force quickly eliminating the guards around the building. Gareth proceeded to set the front half of the mansion aflame, and Nova, Angel, Stell, and Nova's butler Gieves, retreated into the basement, where they were followed by a slow-moving, psychopathic Gareth. After a brief exchange of words, fighting broke out, with Gareth's combat skills, Shinigami strength, and capability to use magic while wearing a magic blocking ring, nearly winning the fight for him.
  
  During the battle, Novalite was stabbed with Gareth's enchanted sword, making a massive wound that she was lucky didn't end up leaving a permanent scar. Stell attempted to use her healing abilities after Gareth left and was able to sustain Nova long enough for her to be taken to a hospital. In the meantime, Angel had managed to run past Gareth, who quickly followed her. The two broke into flight somewhere in the chase, but Angel succumbed to wounds acquired during the Corporation's experimentation and fell to the ground, where she was further damaged by Gareth. Stell, who had transformed into an eagle to pursue Gareth and Angel, leaving Nova in the loving hands of Gieves, was also present and suffered a stab wound similar to Nova's. The stabbing entirely destroyed the fetus that Stell had been carrying inside her. It was only the arrival of local Armed Police and ESTF that prevented Gareth from finishing his prey, as he opted for a speedy departure by flying away, leaving the police in amazement.
  
  After this initial failure, Gareth was ordered by Selene to travel with her and Reed to a hospital where the group was being treated for their injuries. Once the two find the group of targets, a battle quickly ensues... Well, if you could call it a battle. Nova is unable to fight due to her injuries, Gieves is knocked unconscious, and Stell is moderately injured. Selene and Gareth snatch up Angel and throw her into the back of a waiting semi-truck driven by Reed. Gareth gets in the back to watch Angel, leaving the two alone together. Stell attempts to follow the truck, and does so successfully.
  
  Inside the truck, Angel manages to convince the savage, simple-minded Gareth to abandon Die Schwarz Fünf and pursue his own goals of world domination. She explains to him that he doesn't need to do work to make money, as he could simply steal it. This thought never seemed to have crossed Gareth's dumb brain, and he decides to leave the group, but not in a typical manner. He frees Angel when the truck comes to a stop, renders Reed incapacitated, and heads to the front of the truck, where he beats Selene to within an inch of her life, at which point she teleported away to safety. Now free of all connections, Gareth leaves the scene, just as Stell arrives and a car carrying Nova and the now conscious Gieves arrives as well. The four recover from the shock of the incident and Nova takes Angel and Stell to a large house in southern England, owned by her corporation, where they take up residence for the next few months.
  
  After months of no incident, Gareth visits Angelus and Stellvira just as Novalite and Gieves do as well. This time, however, Gareth's visit is of a personal nature. He asks Angelus out on a date, which she accepts, claiming that he's sorry he caused her pain and suffering and that she has been by far the most influential person in his life, bringing to him immense realizations and freedom. From there on out, the group of Gareth, Angelus, Novalite, Gieves, and Stellvira, referred to collectively as GANGS, are the protagonists in a large number of adventures that include alternate universes, time travel, other planets, and a great many other adventures... and misadventures. Nova is also notorious for being the one who shoved a roll of duct tape up Esther Princesa's ass when she attempted to touch her following a warning.
  
  
  One significant point to note are that there are numerous parts of the RP series that we don't consider canon, simply because looking back at them, though they were epic, we realize that they don't really make much sense. Also, the first RP of the series was edited many times to attempt to reconcile with the more reasonable parts of the later Rps. What you have read ABOVE is the official and canon summary of the first RP, which was obviously the most significant.

• Combat

  Contrary to what many may think, Gareth has no formal combat training whatsoever. All he knows has been picked up by centuries of experience and violent combat. He never received any type of military training in weapons or unarmed, hand-to-hand combat, and thus has a much less civilized fighting style, similar to what one might see in bar fights, which are a sport that Gareth much enjoys.
  
  Weapons
  Because of his love of violence, Gareth always has a weapon on him. Usually this is a 9mm Glock 17 pistol, a 10mm Glock 20 pistol, or the .45ACP Springfield Armory Operator 1911A1 pistol. It isn't uncommon for Gareth to carry all of these pistols at the same time, with one holstered on his belt, the other in a shoulder holster under his arm, and the last inside a secure pocket in his jacket. Also carried with him are a 9mm Kel-Tec PF-9, a Bersa Thunder .380ACP pistol, and a Ruger LCR .357 Magnum, all of which are carried at the same time and serve as back up weapons. The Bersa is kept in an ankle holster on his right leg, the PF-9 in a waistband holster on his back, and the LCR in the right side of his jacket, the only gun he can quickly access with his left hand. Gareth carries a few extra magazines for the Glock 17, Glock 20, and Operator, but does not carry extra ammo for the backup weapons.
  
  Gareth also carries a large number of knives, mostly smaller bladed ones, in various pockets in his jacket, with only one or two being held clipped onto his belt. He also carries a 21" ASP Collapsible Baton, as if having Shinigami strength isn't enough, and an X26 Taser Stun Gun. Gareth used to carry his thousands of years old enchanted sword around with him as well, but ended up leaving it locked up in a safe place when small semi-automatic pistols started becoming a reality in the 1980's.
  
  Powers
  Being a Shinigami, Gareth possess some degree of control over magical abilities. He was never taught well how to use these and really finds little fun in using them. As such, Gareth's magic abilities are usually around the level of basic control over the elements, mostly fire, which is the only one he enjoys. While these abilities are lacking, they can quite capably augment the typical fighting style of Gareth in a very positive way.
  
  Natural Abilities
  Another thing granted to Gareth as a Shinigami is that he is both faster and stronger than humans. He can jump higher and further, run faster, and even do things like punch, kick, and draw a weapon faster than almost any human can. As said, Gareth is much stronger than a human, to a degree where a good solid punch to the arm can damage the bone and that a roundhouse kick to the face could easily kill a weaker human. One of Gareth's favorite things is grabbing people with one hand by the neck and holding them above the ground, laughing like an evil maniac while doing so.
