  The following are brief windows into Kiyan's life. Little snippets of time that he records himself with his phone rather than writing out his thoughts since they come and go erratically. Emotions shift on a dime, double back and crash often and one never knows when he'll feel the need to file away something for later perusal.

    She's going to castrate me one of these days and I don't think that time is long in coming. Cassidy caught me nearly rolling around on the wet kitchen floor at work with a customer. Yeah yeah, shut up. It was an accident and the sinks overflowed and she was just trying to help a guy out right?
    So Cass comes in the back door since my shift is almost over, mad as hell and screaming out some gibberish I can't even begin to comprehend and is smacking the crap out of me and half dragging me out by my shirt.
    Meanwhile the lady, her name is Leane, is watching and probably thinks I'm either trash or a fucking moron dating this ginger amazon. Seriously she's six-foot somethin or other. Boss comes in and sees this and I get mega-slag out the door by going with her and she just let me off with a warning. Backhand to the mouth, few punches to the kidneys. Kinda mild for how upset she was over me not responding to her texts. Had the nerve to kiss me goodbye and I gotta go back in and help Zimmermann with the mess still left on the floor. Just had to take a minute for me. I rarely get em.

    Refreshing woman of gentle face and warm eyes. Smart enough to catch on early to the ways I am around strangers that is more of a barrier than an opening. Smarter than me by far seeing all the books she hauls about and pores over with a good dose of caffeine well in hand.
    
    I can't help but nudge a pastry or two her way. Seems a bit thin at the edges but that could be due to a variety of things, especially, the summer storms that have been roaring overhead every other day this season so far. She didn't enjoy divulging her phobia(s) but fessed up easily. I can't do that. Some things are locked away that I only see the faint remnants of. Like the golden shine around the edges of a dream world. Were these things true or just odd imaginations that slowly manifested as memories over time? I can't believe the latter, my arms still hurt when a cold front is coming in. Used to it by now though.
    
    I want to apologize to her. Let her know that I didn't want our first meeting to end that way. With Cassidy coming in looking like a crazed harpy that had just snorted a cocktail of catnip and cocaine. Leane, I pushed you out to spare you seeing any more of that... that crap I have to deal with. I promise I'll get it fixed. I'll get something to happen so when... if you allow it, we hang out again you don't have to be afraid. I don't. I'm not good at friends. I try. I really do but my foot goes in my mouth or Cass doesn't like me having female friends or their boyfriends think I'm trying to put the moves on them when I'm not. I just felt an odd kind of kinship there.
    
    That or I'm just an idiot. Probably an idiot.
