Females have always been a rarity among the Lycan's. They come far and few between, and even fewer still are fertile.
This comes from generations of males being considered the superior -- female children were often left abandoned, seen as weak - until the time came when they became rare.
Roxane was born to an Alpha; her mother died during childbirth, and her twin brother died shortly after. He was never named.
The mix of alpha and lycan blood aided her greatly, before she had even learnt to talk. It gave her more control over the beast, the ability to form more rational lines of thought.

Her father loved her as much as any man could love his daughter; he called her Raven, a nickname given to her for her spirit, and her wonder of all things that could fly. He taught her to read, write, fight and even how to defy - anything to give his daughter an edge.

And yet, after her father died, Roxane went from being awed, to being something to be claimed and owned. But, Roxie had not been left a defenceless creature; she had attended the school from a young age, and learnt to fight and maim as well as any man.
She refused many that wished her for a 'mate', rejecting the idea that her only duty was to breed more little Lycans. After what had happened to her mother, her father had never impressed the idea of children upon Roxie - refusing any who dared to mention as such.

Her father had been dead for a year when the attack first happened. Roxane had barely touched her eighteenth winter. There were three, several years older than her - and it required little imagination for her to know their intent. Roxie was convinced she would be able to chase them away herself, to prove herself strong; she took no care as she mocked the Lycan's, and sneered at their desperation. And yet - much to her frustration - a certain Lycan came to her aid, helping her in chasing off the offenders. She knew him only in passing from her time at Fenir University, and it was safe to say that she was less than appreciative.
And that was how she first truly spoke to Inti. For years, she bitterly made remarks about how she hadn't needed to be saved - much to Inti's own humour and frustration.
Roxane was more than aware of the debt that she owed him - and she hated every last minute of it.
Eventually, the duo became friends, his presence a protective one. A big brother was something she had never experienced, and yet she was more than aware of his defensive stance over her.

So when the time came for her to repay him, well - she took it, even knowing the danger to herself. Inti had been imprisoned, now considered crazed enough to be put down and destroyed. As strong as Inti was, he posed a real threat to most Lycan's -
And yet, Roxane freed him anyway. She, too, had had enough of the Hierarchy that ordained the Lycans, and the plan initially had been to escape with him. And yet, the Gods had other plans.

When it became clear they could not both escape, Roxane did the only thing she could - and repaid that debt from those years ago.
She fell behind, turning on her old comrades in an attempt to buy the man time to escape. She never looked back as she tore apart several of her own company. It was only a lucky shot that was able to bring her down, before she was dragged to the council of Alpha's for judgement.
Normally, the law would have had her killed on the spot, slaughtered for a traitor and a murderer - but it was her rarity and value that saved her life. Instead, they demanded two things from her.
Her right eye - and her freedom.

She was kept prisoner for over a century, tortured until she was able to break free. Like cat and mouse, the Alpha's hunted her, recaptured her - but she'd always find her way to freedom, taking the lives of many alphas and lycans with her.

Now wanted by her own breed, Roxane is an exile, to be killed upon sight.
