Fiks

The purely equine herd that Fiks was born into was well known in Wales for the constant roaming and acquisition of new territory. A cross between Celts and Vikings, these horses were nomads, never setting foot inside a building but also absolutely ruthless fighters and never extended mercies twice. When they defeated a tribe in combat the males were given two choices; either swear loyalty to the Lead Stallion or die. And to the females there wasn't a choice, they were integrated into the herd.
It was during a raid that Fiks' father, the Lead Stallion of the herd, found an injured fallow doe but despite the injury still ran with such grace that it caught his attention enough that pursued her. He brought her back to the Herd despite murmurings of mutiny. He even managed to get her pregnant. But this was the downfall in the plan. The birth was harsh, the doe so delicate and not used to such a large child that she bled out just after Fiks was born. His father's experiment had ended a life but brought forth a new hybrid; one with the strength of the stallion and the grace of the stag.
Life was harsh for Fiks in the beginning, despite being the only son of the Lead Stallion and his natural heir, no one wanted anything to do with him. His teachers were forced to take him under their wing and it was only then that they noticed what his father saw in him. He was a natural fighter and dancer, both qualities needed for their way of life. He grew up strong and won many battles. It was in one such battle where he was chosen to go against the opposing army's champion that he won his first true victory and earned the rank that his father had given him.
Fiks made such a name for himself that one enemy in particular wouldn't face him in combat, he employed the talents of a female to pretend that she had been 'ravaged' and to rely on Fiks' trusting and protective nature to take her in. It worked and while he slept the female stabbed him through the chest with a poisoned dagger set to sap his strength but she also grazed his heart causing him to slowly bleed out also. The result being that the stag still went to battle that next day but was so weak he was left for dead by his warriors left without a leader. This was when the cruel plot met it's climax with the sale of Fiks to slavers.
