  At the age of 8, Ostera was struck by a car while riding her bike. On route to the hospital, she couldn't help but notice the machines that beeped and the complex words and phrases that came out of the paramedics' mouths. They were like magic spells. At the hospital, she met a man in a white coat who told her he was going to make sure she would be okay. Twenty years later, Ostera would start her residency as a trauma surgeon. It took hard work, perseverance and severly ignoring her personal life, but Ostera came out the other side - summa cum laude.
  
  Albeit, Ostera kept a large chunk of her young adult life with her nose in a book and up to her elbows in blood, she doesn't lack in personality. Strong-willed, sarcastic, and a smart aleck, Ostera isn't always everyone's cup of tea, but she'd never look to be. With her soft features and hour glass frame, she had to establish her reputation or get put on the soft and fluffy track. It was be a smart bitch or a fuzzy cheerleader and she wasn't interested in the second option.
  
  

  

  
  
  Ostera maintains the idea that she can keep her work and her life separate. She knows it feels impossible some days, but she attempts to lead as normal of a lifestyle as possible for someone who works seven nights on and five days off. Not to mention the clinic days she gets scheduled every now and again.
  
  When not at the hospital, Ostera keeps an small 2 bedroom home. Her hobbies include watching mobster movies, talking Doyle (her Scottish Terrier) out for a walk, reading trashy novels, trying to cook random dishes from various ethnicies she finds online, and playing pinball or cards with whoever wants to sit around for a round.
  
  Ostera isn't seeking a relationship, but isn't opposed to one. Things happen. Oz recently ended an engagement several months ago to a lieutenant at her father's former firehouse.
