But Y'ffre took the Ooze and ordered it. First, she told of the Green, the forest and all the plant life in it. She gave the Green the power to shape itself as it willed, for it was her first tale. The Elves were Y'ffre's second tale. As Y'ffre spun the story, the Elves took the form they have today. Y'ffre gave them the power to tell stories, but warned them against trying to shape themselves or the Green. Shifting and the destruction of the forest were forbidden. Instead, Y'ffre commended the Wood Elves to the Green, so that they might ask the Green to provide them with shelter and a safe passage, and as long as they respected the Green, it would obey. [X]

The Green Pact and the Dominion

My brother and I are determined to break away from this abomination. Treaty of Frond and Leaf has been the basis of our lives since birth, but that does not mean that we have the desire to stick to it. Our family, one of the only ones left in Valenwood who live by the original traditions of this pact, has caused us to consume the flesh of the enemies that have been killed on our soil. We have eaten our own kin. We have let our own die of illness even when the herbal remedies were growing within our reach.
I have traveled across to Cyrodiil with Tharin multiple times before his leave. Seeing the simpler lives of the Imperials and their allies caused my heart to shift. The sadness that they feel at the death of their loved ones made me look upon the rest of my family as the heartless ones. Mother and Father do not have any more respect for me or Tharin. Why they decide not to throw me out like they did with him still makes me wonder. What have I done to keep my place at home with them?
Was it because of Fierla? Our sister meant more to us than anything else. Even though she followed the ways of the pact, she still didn't find it wrong for Tharin to leave the ideals. Could it be that Father thought that he was changing her? Did he blame Tharin for my own change of heart? I may never know because he refuses to tell me. A Bosmer that strays from the pact should never know the right way, he tells me.
It is because of my Father's idiocy that Tharin is out and fighting for his cause. He is working hard to bring me with him. And if Fierla was still alive, he would bring her too. Before he left, he told me that he would go to Chorrol and make his life there. And that he would return to me and save me from the life I live because of the pact that my family so desperately is trying to revive to its originality. I must have peace and patience for his return. If I let the affairs rule me, I will brainlessly wander away to find contentment elsewhere. And that would make it nearly impossible for Tharin to find me again and whisk me away to a better place. I am stuck at my Father's settlement and there is no way that he would let me leave so easily. Valenwood is more of a prison to me than it is my home and I want my freedom.
Three years after Tharin Left, my marriage to Eridor had given me no help. He was just like my father and I suppose that's why we were married. I had no say in this area. My mother and father were determined to keep me with them for reasons unknown to me as I said. I have made the same decisions as Tharin, I have strayed from the pact, and yet they keep me in their home and marry me to a Bosmer who is the epitome of a barbarian on the battlefield. Eridor is a man who has a reputation among the warriors as the One Who Devours The Hearts Of His Enemies. I believe he has done such a thing. Despite this all, Eridor is not a bad man. He has never harmed me and has only ever been gentle to me. But that does not mean that I love him.
Our wedding was not free from the pact's traditions. We both drank Rotmeth at the ceremony. It is considered a precious, divine beverage. But to me, it tastes like rotten flesh and smells like death. I had been accustomed to these senses and I wasn't subject to pulling a face when the rancid liquid filled my mouth and traveled down my throat. I should admit that as a little girl I had been looking forward to the day when I was able to partake of it during my wedding ceremony. As a woman though, the concept didn't seem to send me any sort of pleasant feeling.
As pleasant as it sounds... there was a breach in my family's grove the day before my wedding. An Altmer and an Orsimer were the culprits and my father killed them both. So the wedding feast we had after the ceremony consisted of the flesh of the intruders. I was merely the only one who didn't wish to eat that night. I had requested lamb or deer, but none had been prepared. So I sat in silence next to my husband as the guests feasted upon cooked portions of the bodies. My action did not go unnoticed. My father had somehow convinced me to eat and to this day I don't know how he did.
