I've held back for too long. I need a good ol fashion gore filled RP. I've been in some that hadthe potential but it had to be dulled down due to the sites public forums pg-13 rating.heh . And welcome to RPR!

I am in a debate over the PG-13 rating guidelines as we speak. In PG-13...you can actually be fairly foul mouth and gore ridded. That movie Insidious..is PG-13. And look what happens there, even in disney movies. If these admins dont have thier own rules straight..well, ya know. I doubt my profile will be allowed to stay much longer. Even my user name is an issue when the term "bitch" is in every dictionary in every elementary school in north america.

I kind of agree, PG-13 movies have included almost every cuss word except the f word (Which, getting technical, you can have one f word in them too.) She should be well within your rules.

(I'm not into PG-13, just offering a little advice rules-wise)

1; as far as profiles go, at least character profiles, there are warnings that you can put on them to show that mature content is on the site. Can't say much for your choice of profile name though.

2; if you're concerned about PG-13 RP, you could always do it over Private Message, or PM. That way there isn't a possibility of underage/innocent viewers seeing the stuff, and you can be as gorey as you want.

3; if you're really concerned about your profile name, or the mature/gorey RP, you can always send a message to one of the Mods or Kim herself, and they can help you clear up the blurred gray line.

To be fair, we're PG-13ish. Why ish? Because the people who rate movies don't have their own rules straight. What knocks one movie from G to PG-13 might go ignored in another, and what is normally fine for PG-13 sometimes knocks things into the R category. There's a number of documentaries on how arbitrary the entire process is. In the end, such guidelines are entirely subjective, up to the sensibilities of individual people. The sensibility that ultimately defines PG-13 is "I wouldn't want my kid to see that." Different people raise their kids different ways, but extra caution isn't a bad thing. If something happened that made one of our moderators uncomfortable, I will back their decision.

Occasional mild swearing does sometimes happens on the forums. But having a swear word in your name isn't occasional swearing, it's arguably swearing every time you say anything to anyone. That it's in a dictionary doesn't make it not a swear -- I just looked up the f-word in the dictionary, and it's right there. They'd still put me in detention for shouting it in elementary school.

I'm sorry if you're finding it overly restrictive or not edgy enough around here. We really work hard to keep the atmosphere light and everyone feeling safe, and that does mean some tighter controls to prevent flaming and keep things clean. I've tried to provide opportunities for people to cut loose in the form of groups, where you can make your own forums for you and your friends, make your own rules, and pick your own moderators.

That makes sense, I've already made a group because of that
By the way, I like this website a whole LOT, we're all just settling in. Moving from facebook where language is pretty much unrestricted is just strange.

No worries dieblues! A lot of people run into hiccups while transitioning. We know nobody means anything malicious by it.
