Hey there! So, in my opinion Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is one of the better systems out there, and I think it's sort of a rite of passage to play at least one campaign of Dungeons and Dragons. I have plenty of experience DMing, and I have a few modules lined up for us to play. You can get most of the sourcebooks from unreliably legal sources, too. Rolling up characters in 4E's pretty simple too, and the rules are easy enough to get that if you have never played before and just want to try it out you won't be under threat of being too confused or anything like that; the only thing not really mentioned in there is that everyone starts with 100 gold and gets to spend it on equipment.

So, anyone interested in running a level 1 and up campaign of DnD 4E?
I would be interested if it was a 3.x campaign. I've looked at 4e stuff, and it doesn't seem very appealing to me - mind you, I've never played it, so I could just be blowing hot air here. This is probably the exact same thing people said when switching from 2e to 3e stuff as well. Heee.

I'm currently learning to play DnD, otherwise I'd offer to play. I'm a noob T-T

You seem to underestimate how easy it is to play DnD. I can help you out on it pretty easily.

And Bonebag, basically 4e's a lot like 3.5, but it's condensed. Classes are unified, skills are unified, and I think it's for the better. For example, 5 different skills have all been condensed into Perception, and there are no more Knowledge checks, only Insight and relevant DM-levelled bonuses in different fields.

See this page for a good guide on the changes and an overview of the system.

Thanks for the brief explanation, I will definitely look into that. I'm just so used to 3.x stuff that it's hard for me to think of it being condensed or changed. Andryn and I are big dnd nuts - he taught me how to play - so when 4e stuff came out, we looked at it, thought the art was nice, but since the system was new and unknown to us, it was automatically shoved into the 'DO NOT WANT. 3E IS BEST.' category. I'm going to actually look into it now, and try to keep an open mind with it.

Cool. If you're interested you should just roll up a level 1 character. I'd recommend you stay away from the Essentials books(Heroes of the ___), the classes there are sorta strange and not as customizable or interesting; just stick to the 2 Player's Handbooks and you should be fine.
Three players handbooks, Taco. PHB 3 Reintroduced the 4th ed revamp of Monk, Psion, Wilder, etc.

Oh, I wasn't aware! That's pretty cool, man; I'll make sure to get it later.
Openings? Very interested, as I have an Artificer that is waiting to be unleashed.

Cool, what sourcebook is the 4E Artificer from? I'm just asking because I know multiple classes can have similar names and be from different books, like how PH characters are more or less nothing like their Essentials versions.
I believe it was the Ebberon Player's guide...

of course if you would allow a homebrew class design I would forever be in your debt and worship the forums you post in ^^

But yeah, I don't like homebrew classes because they can mess with things in unpredictable ways, and since I have never really interacted with you, like ever, I think I would rather play things safe. I'm downloading the Eberron guide right now--oh hey there it is, and we could always use a nice Leader/Controller.

So what, including me, that's 5 players? That's a pretty good size for a party, what do you guys think? I'm willing to work with any number, definitely, but I don't really know your preferences.
Anything is good for me. As long as I have my Artificer i'm good for anything.

Well then you should probably get on rolling 'em up. Remember, level 1, 100 starting gold. I used point-buy with Art, but I'm fine with you using rolls too, provided they aren't bullshittingly awesome across the board.
post characters here?

Oh, no, just make your 4E characteras an RPR character profile like I've done with Art and post as them in this thread so I can look them over.

Ahhh... Ditch Hale shall rise again!
Hey there, I'm interested in doing this, I like detailed and lengthy posting, and have played DND on several occasions before. I'm accustomed to 3.5 but I could get used to 4 pretty easy I think. Have any room for another character? Also any parameters?

what program did you use to make thecharacter sheet?

I've mentioned all the parameters in the OP: only official WotC books--I'm expanding that because Eberron's actually pretty damn cool and the Essentials characters are pretty cool, and Heroes of Shadow is fine, etcetera--level 1 characters, and 100 starting gold. You can use point-buy or dice for attributes, I don't really care.

The site for the character sheet generator I used is down, but I have a mediafire link here. You will need the Microsoft .NET Framework to get it to run.
