I am sure there is something like this, but shouldn't there be tags for we the players to put on a character profile or even on our own to let people know if they are a magic user/tech based and combo of the two, or even something as small as being able to tag ourselves as 'avoids combat' or 'combat hungry' on our personal profiles?

At present, this is called the bio.

As for character profiles, at the moment there is the Always Never Chart widget. It's not a tagging system, but it does let you lay out your RP whims however you'd like so folks know what to expect when engaging your characters in RP.

Mine are usually tucked away, but here's an example of the chat in use near the bottom of Draconus' OoC information page.
