Hello everyone!

Now I know you just released the new find rp set up but I can't help but miss some aspects of the old version. Now I understand if you can't (Or wont because its not needed or there isnt enough want for it) that thats perfectly fine! I just wanted to offer some food for thought!

EDIT Just found that option in the find rp section. Ignore this paragraph.
One of the things I miss the most was the "Showing the people who were active in the past 10 minutes" I really liked that because it told me that they were online currently and are more likely to respond to the request I made. When it disappeared I knew they weren't online or they took it down which was also useful-- to at least me.

The second thing I miss is having the option to say I am interested! without it popping up on my activity feed. Maybe I don't want people to know that I am requesting to rp with people when I haven't had the chance to reply to my current rps. (I feel guilty for it) I always have time to read my rps and check the find rp tab, but not always have time to respond.

These might seem minor, but I just wanted to bring it up. The first one I can live without, but the second one I wish I had an option.

thanks for your time!
Oh, I support the finding a way to bring back the 'I'm Interested' option suggestion. I don't know how complex the coding would be, and not really urgent, but something that could be really great to implement again. For example, at the Looking for RP Forum, instead of letting people reply, just the 'I'm Interested' button, and the option to add a message, that would probably go to the person's inbox. So instead of it being displayed as a reply, you can handle the people interested individually, and more privately.

It'd also be pretty cool for there to be a way to mark a topic as closed, so that it no longer appears on the options available in the Find RP section, but remains in the forum for people to check out when they want.

I would like this for other reasons too - sometimes people stop suggesting characters because x people already replied, even if I never agreed to RP with any of them. The beauty of the old system was that suggesting characters meant I kept getting TONS of interest because nobody could see how many responses I already had.

On actual forum topics, I'd be happy to get 3 people interested. After about 3, interest dies down almost entirely. I also experience this when I'm browsing people's looking for topics, more than a handful of replies makes me feel like I'm late to the party and my response would be dismissed instantly.

It would be super nice if we could suggest characters with a note straight to the inbox somehow. That was what people originally wanted as the first upgrade to the system anyway, to be able to discuss and add notes when suggesting. I still feel it applies even with all the awesome upgrades we got now.

This, so much this
Out of curiosity, because I don't feel strongly either way but feel I'm missing something, what is the difference between the "I'm Interested!" button being put back in versus just opening your inbox and PMing the original poster directly with the character(s) you wanted to suggest?

Maybe not inboxing them but when you looked at the characters that are listed like in the old version, perhaps there is the comment they made under their characters profile on that list. I personally feel awkward inboxing people because I feel like I am pressuring them.

For privately expressing interest, this is what PMs are for! :)

As far as the "I'm Interested" button, it was very deliberately eliminated after huge numbers of complaints about "suggestion spam," wherein people would just suggest their characters to all RPs whether they were relevant or not. Terminator-style characters being suggested to medieval RPs, for example.

It turned out to be so easy that it encouraged bad behaviors. Game-posters were pretty clear with me that they needed an explanation to be submitted with characters, so if the suggestion was non-obvious, they could know what the suggester had in mind when they did so. Requiring that everything go through forums or PMs provides this opportunity. So, the exact equivalent of the one-click "I'm interested" button will not be making a re-appearance. The closest would be a shortcut button for PMing the person right from the forums, eliminating one click from the process (that of going to their profile first).

This exists! Simply add (closed) to the topic title, and it no longer appears in Find RP search results.

It's just a little more tedious to get to the PM screen (especially for anons) than a one click reply to a forum topic I suppose. Especially on mobile it's a pain, but I'm guessing reducing the number of clicks to get to the PM screen has not enough value compared to other features to be worth implementing.

Adding a PM link is not particularly excessive, and could probably benefit everyone on the forums, so it might happen anyway. It'd still require writing a message, though, unlike the old Interested button. :)

But as a point of trivia, PMing anon characters with a forum post as the starting place is still the same number of clicks as getting to PMing a user!

Oh... I see, I didn't know that was a thing. Yikes. I guess everything has its disadvantages. Thanks for sharing that information, though! I really had no idea! However, I don't think reducing the number of clicks was the issue with the 'I'm interested' button. Sanne actually nailed it with what she said. It's just a big plus.

All in all, the update is still new, so I think we could eventually find a way to work around this after playing with it a little.

And... I had no idea this was a thing either. Lol, I should really get out here more. I hadn't realized it made them stop showing. Thanks for sharing that too (I'll totally remember it next time) and hearing out the concerns!

True, but if someone has a non-mobile compatible custom template (which unfortunately seems prevalent in custom templates) it can be three times as much trouble to get there than from a user profile. And some characters have guestbooks full of gifs on their landing page and *frustration noises*. :P
