Invisible Children

When I logged onto Facebook this morning, this isn't at all what I was expecting to see. The video is a bit long, at 29 minutes but please watch it. Donate if you can, help spread awareness. Look at what they were able to accomplish already just by making people aware of what was going on. I shared it on my FB wall, and I know a lot of you guys on here have Facebook as well, if awareness can help why not share it?
Loki I'm beginning to think we have similar friends ;) because this was on my fb as well this morning.

Haha Maybe! I actually got linked to this from a friend in New Zealand :) It's going viral pretty quickly!

I've heard quite a lot about Invisible Children. Although their intent here is good, I advise choosing another charity with less questionable practices....but at the same time, make Kony famous. :>

I've spent most of the morning looking at information about the "questionable practices" that this foundation supposedly has, and each one of them link back to an article written in 2009 by an anti-war Yale professor, most of the detractors are speaking against this charity because it does support military action.

The point of the video is to spread awareness, I'm pretty sure it's done that well enough.

That site does have quite a bit of information, reposted under the tumblr.

I think spreading awareness is wonderful, though I highly suggest donating to a charity that puts more money towards the actual cause than Kony 2012 does. Last year alone they only donated roughly 30% of profits to the cause (example, if you donate $50, only $15 of that is going to be used to actually help) and have refused to have an outside audit done.

I do agree, the cause is important, though the charity is a bit shady itself. More information has popped up recently about Kony 2012 due to the video going viral. It's always good to do some background checking when it comes to charities.

I wouldn't mind seeing what other charities are out there to support this cause. I'll have to take a look when I get home tonight!
