Trickster

Has really no one written a submission for this in two days? I thought you people were writers. ):<

Now, I'm not sure what an epic poem is and I'm not exactly a decent poet, but I have studied a bit of MLA (Mixed-Lyrical-Arts), so I'll toss out something rubbish just to give you an easy submission to do better than.

Haiku, Tenka, Limerick and Rhyme, hooo!

Once upon a time in the land of Repositoria,
The Jedi Zombie Pirate Wizards lived in euphoria.
But along one day came a villainous villain most vile,
Bringing with it a million little bugs marching single file!

Their havoc was wrought,
No matter how hard we fought,
They beat out our snot.

But from the ashes rose a valiant knight,
A tiny Paladin bathed in the holiest of light,
His sword carved from broom,
Helm fetched from well's tomb
And shield from atop wastebin, he set out to do right!

Come the next morrow,
Red pixels littered the land,
Eyes filled with sorrow.
But the villain was in hand!
High priestess Kim rose to stand...

... and dealt the finishing blow on the monster in code, "One-zero-one, you're banned!"

Not everyone is as speedy as you, Mr. Trickster!

That was adorable AND epic! :D
Trickster?

To my Girls on RPR~

To Jello, my dear, my faithful and true
I would be long gone, if not for you
For your Roleplay is perfect, your banter is prime
And I hope our adventures continue

From the Marshes in Labyrinth we did our quest start
An elf, a shadow, an unwavering heart
To dungeons beyond and plains below
Delighted was I in your part

Then along came a Scout, a fighter he sought
A friendship was struck, and beers were then bought
Many nights later, both kinky and mild
Look at the havok they wrought

To Kim, sweet Kim, my dearest Kim
With you, my memories never are grim
Remember that dice roll, a natural 100
I dedicate that to this hymn

You're awesome, you're funny, and so much more
I looked forward each day to see whats in store
On RPR I spend most my time these days
Without you, I'd be sad to the core

To Minerva, I owe the most of all praise
For she showed me this place in the darkest of days
With her I did roleplay for the very first time
And set my imagination ablaze!

To my girls on RPR, without you I'd be less
Than a shadow of myself today, you be blessed
Now I get back to posting, and try not to fail
Lest I make all the good things a mess!

BAMF!!

BAMF INDEED!

Who else will take up the challenge? :D
I will! But my entry needs to wait until after April. But I do plan on entering! :D
TheLily

The sunlight dapples tree lined walks,
Dusty roads criss-cross the once lush land,
Her eyes no longer seem to see,
But at once he reaches for her, taking her hand.

Leaves all fallen to the ground,
The air painted frosty white,
With each breath exhaled,
Winter coming with all her might.

The ground is frozen solid,
Each step thumps loudly in the silence
Each traveller seem uneasy,
Each movement a painful threat of violence.

The blind woman murmurs to noone,
Her voice carrying to all those who march.
Visions of the future and past,
Her words painting pictures of the Arch.

Men and women stumble,
Their bones turning to ice,
A commotion of complaint comes swiftly,
"My feet hurt" and "I've gotten lice!"

Each annoyance brings everyone together,
And drives them apart,
No one is satisfied,
Everyone loses heart.

The war has driven many away,
Each as scared of bugs as the last,
Each running from the enemy and themselves,
Everyone man and woman trying to escape the past...

And this is the hardest poem I've ever had to write, since I never do couplets. I wrote it about those characters who get deleted because of drama. It didn't start that way, but I never know how my poems will end!

Oooh, I love it Lily. :D
can you post more than one?

Yes, absolutely. Although you can only place once.
Hope that this is as good as the others...

Through and through I have tried to find,
Such a place to help ease my mind,
So I was introduced to this lovely place,
Where I begin to start my creative race.

Here I met many a friend and fellow Rper,
Creating such a wonderful bond between each other,
I couldn't believe what I had been seeing,
Such a perfect place to begin believing!

No more are my days feeling so very long,
Instead beginning to stay up to stay on,
Just another hour I promise! I swear!
Just to be on several more hours later.

So I thank you Kim and all the moderators,
For making a place full of many wonders,
To make a place for everyone to be happy,
With everything looking neat and not crappy.

Lol, I tried.
I'm surprised I managed to do this. My life has crushed my creativity right now. But I guess putting off sleep is great motivation for writing random poetry. XD

Once in a world of cruelty and troll, lived a peaceful valley of pure serenity.
Harmless jokes and honest connections were made, friendships with longevity.
In the calm repository there were no troubles, no ills and cruel retorts.
But one plain day brought news of pain, and in poured the reports.
A mysterious black knight, daring and dark, threatened the calm peaceful land.
The princess of repository, so skilled in her ways, took her mighty blade in hand.
The people were violently assaulted, one after another, by the mystery man in black.
And down they fell, sister and brother, to the mystery man's attack.

The princess despaired, for each time she sought, she found nothing but cold empty space.
But when stress was overwhelming and hope was lost, a white knight would take her place.
Together in shifts they kept vigilant watch, determined to stop the oppressor.
A cry for help came and the princess took flight, spreading hope to halt the depressor.
In her burst of bright light, the darkness revealed a monster both large and cruel.
The mysterious black knight, revealed in his glory, with wickedness as his fuel.

The princess lifted her sword, the white knight as well, and both prepared to attack.
The wicked monster did not stand a chance, and down fell the knight in black.
Now the princess stands tall, and the repository peaceful, once again loving all kind.
For, thanks to their leader and faithful subjects, they do not suffer Error Undefined.

(is it bragging to say I'm actually really proud of this? Considering I've wrote nothing but RP posts for a couple months... XD) (p.s. It's in paragraph-y form because epic poems tend to be more story-like than poem-like. At least the ones I've read, so that's where I get my inspiration lol)

Oh I love these entries! :3

Does it HAVE to rhyme or can it be a non-rhyming poem?
If memory serves, I don't think epic poems exactly have to. Throwing in the occasional rhyme here or there wouldn't hurt though ;)
Kim Topic Starter Site Admin

Historically, Epic poetry frequently rhymed as it was an oral history, and rhyming made it easier to memorize and more durable (harder to fudge details if they all have to rhyme!)

That said, there are a whole lot of epic poems out there that depend on meter rather than rhyme for their structure, and you are welcome to freely interpret.

I would say either rhyme or don't, one lone rhyme in the middle of an otherwise non-rhyming passage sticks out like a sore thumb. :)
Sanne Moderator

My little language barrier can make it difficult to rhyme effectively, but I'll try! If that doesn't work out, I'll go for the non rhyne variety. :3
Kim Topic Starter Site Admin

Don't feel obligated to rhyme! If another style of poetry is more comfortable, use that. Just make sure that the subject is epic. ;)
Sanne Moderator

The subject may be a little too self-centered, but out of all the things I tried this one turned out best. If it doesn't qualify though, let me know.

Not too long ago in the realms of cyberspace,
Rose a new and unfamiliar face.
It beheld this world and its newfound glory,
Quickly knowing it as the RP Repository.

So started a tale of epic proportion,
To rid the lands of foul corruption.
With love, digital, facing its quest,
For that is what it knew best.

Although not alone on this noble mission,
The robot annihilated bugs with great precision.
By far the greatest achievement so far,
The accolades pronounced it nearly a star.

Now all can rest, safe and sound,
For the dangers have been stomped firmly into the ground.
And as Repositorians resume their daily business,
I shall protect them now and forever, as the RP god is my witness.

A new experimental poem. Hope people don't mind the name dropping! This is closer to the style I usually use for poetry, and honestly it was easier to write this than the other poem.

There once was a man who liked to role play,
He logged into RPR every day,
Opening page after page,
He found him self in a rage,
As his browser crashed and closed away.

There a horrible limerick too.

Drip. Drip. Drip.
The rain falls in a ruthless pattern,
Cooling my breath to a soft puff of white,
The night sounds muted by the soft
Drip. Drip. Drip.

The smell of sweet, wet earth,
Fills me deeper than the richest stew,
As I stand here and
Wait. Wait. Wait.

The cloudy sky hides my beloved stars,
The moon does not give that courtesy,
And through the haze I can see a halo,
Of bright silver light.

Thud-thud! Thud-thud!
I hear the soft leather boots on the muddy ground.
"Dragon in bound!"
I hear him screech, into the night.

My footsteps follow in his,
The thuds are equal and harmonize.
We run as one, ranger and druid,
Through mud and rain and trees and rocks.

Our hands skim finger tips
We can see the entrance to the cave
Our dark salvation
From both rain and fire.

He dives in first
The slower of us two
And behind him I follow
Wiggling into the tight space.

In the darkness
Sound is our only sense.

Drip. Drip. Drip.
Rain outside, scenting the air sweetly.

Thub-thub. Thub-Thub.
His hear. Or mine.

Hu-uh. Hu-uh.
My breath. Or his.

Even in the darkness I can sense he's drawing near.
Soon our lips will meet in a sweet kiss of first true love.

Closer and closer still we draw,
Finally - BEEP

Oh yeah, the microwave. I forgot about my dinner.
The spell is broken for now
My computer screen shows me the world
I helped create
With another person on the otherside
Roles played though miles between us.

Too bad my pizza's getting cold!

onomatopoeia! That is all.
