Remus Doran (played by TheTwilightWarrior)

Prologue:

The year is 2467 AD in the Milky Way Galaxy. Man had reached for the skies centuries earlier and brought with them a large array of advanced technological innovations. Through this, they've managed to colonise and claim systems for their own. In 2296, the Terran government made contact with various extraterrestrial races. After having fought for a seemingly endless period of time, they declared an armistice, which in turn ascended to an inter-galactic unified faction known as the 'Orion Coalition'. In 2452, a dangerous life-form known as the 'Barbadoss' appeared out of seemingly nowhere. Although tensions were brewing amongst the Terran and other species, they were left with no choice but to uphold their alliance and fight this threat. Many lives were lost, with the various Free Mercenary Companies leading the forefront of this war to preserve the life of the galaxy. After the war, things had settled down. The call-to-arms of the Coalition had ceased, leaving the companies to nothing but large sums of money at their disposal.

Nero Antonius -a mercenary general- held an uprising to overthrow the Coalition and establish his own empire in the galaxy in 2458. Despite the vast number of resources at his disposal, he eventually was defeated and executed for treason. Fearing the potential of another uprising, Coalition president Anton O’Brien enacted several legislations to regulate the presence of mercenary companies across the galaxy. Having these new laws enacted, the companies showed disdain, but not as much as Derrick Priest.

Priest formed his company 'Nero 7' on the outer-rim of the Andromeda Galaxy and has since extended his presence to the Milky Way. Through his resources he had acquired through the Black Market, he fielded a commendable Navy and Army. Through this paramilitary force, he had raided several Coalition outposts and mugged countless merchant vessels. Brigadier General Daniel Fredrickson had gotten sick of the failed attempts of apprehending Priest, which lead him to ask permission from the Galactic Bounty Commission to put up a price on Priest's head. They allowed him to do so, with a price of 250,000 Coalition Credits dead or alive. Ever since this happened, various bounty hunters and lone-wolf mercenaries flocked to the opportunity to take Priest's head.

Remus stood in line of a cue of other like-minded bounty hunters and mercenaries... well, almost like-minded. They ranged from mere humans wearing nothing but rags and automatic pistols by their sides, to half-armoured men and women with rifles slung over their shoulders. Remus would be one to stick out quite prominently in this line of esteemed and inconsequentially inferior warriors. He was dressed more like a gunslinger of a time long-past. A bounty hunter in his own right. The hallway he stood in was quite wide, giving the other men and women space to move out of the line and elsewhere. The hallway was at best, musty and blandly coloured brown. He knew of far worse places than this, yet he'd at least ask for an environment worthy of keeping the dust off his clothes and armour.

He felt mostly conflicted with the new laws in place. He remembered times when he was a mercenary. A mercenary with a family. However, such times had long passed, yet he couldn't help but feel reluctant to follow these laws. He did, however, understood that these laws are meant for the protection of the people. That is something he definitely agreed with.

“Next!”

He heard from the end of the cue. His thoughts eased slightly as he proceeded with himself getting closer to the review. The end of this line had a Captain of the Coalition Navy who was assigned to review the upcoming candidates for selection. Remus thought it odd for someone such as a Naval Captain to review bounty hunters, especially since he was bound to bear no experience for people such as Remus. He heard the Captain talking to the potential candidate, but he was too far away to hear exactly what they were saying. He didn't need to know. He was going to find out regardless.

((Feel free to jump into the cue boys. The Captain will give you each a survey on what you're capable of and you'll just have to fill it out. After that, he'll give you a permit to meet Fredrickson. We'll go on from there.))
Draken Iter (played by Draken901)

Standing in the line as well is a person in what looks like full body armor armor fit for space and beyond. With a strange device on his back, as well as a heavily modified aug, he came here for buisiness. Hoping to not be turned down.

Unlike other conventional weapons, the device on his back was special. It was no mere gun. It could shoot lightning and electricity. Especially useful for making general machines, computers, cybernetics, and robotics malfunction, or just become completely fried.

He spotted Remus by a few people in front of him in the line. Strange fellow. Dressed a western cowboy or something. He wonders if uses revolvers like them too.

Hey Arm, nothing really, still in the line
Argh, really ?

Aelia opened her eyes and blinked a few times, scanning all the the persons waiting.
Two persons in particular stood out, a...[reference missing] and a guy with...an EMP gun.
Oh shit
She carefully scanned every inches of the EMP gun owner, aknowledging every detail and adapting her personal shield to the gun specifications, just in case.
Reference found : Cowboy
Wait, what ? Really ? She thought as she saw the description.
She looked carefully at the guy...it was...rather funny.
But if he was here, he was dangerous, and peoples are most of the time not they look like.
She shifted her position against the wall, about a meter of the EMP guy.
At least her suit was confortable.
She took the decision to switch to sleep mode until something happened, after all, boredom was her greatest ennemy.
Sleep mode activated...Conscious shut down, automated defenses systems activated, set to : non-lethal.

((I'm sorry. I'm not accepting anymore players. And the idea was to allow me to RP the captain during the interview. Sorry I didn't put in 'closed' earlier.))
Fushio (played by TaintedCaribou)

Fushio fell into the partially armored female group. As usual, those who noticed her would stare. At this point it was to be expected. It was her appearance, certainly, but these were not covetous looks.

No. These were looks of curiosity, as one might witness on the faces of side show attendees. Her and her race weren't exactly common anymore; their population thinned so low they would all be dead or severely inbred within three more generations. Couple that with her wandering to the furthest reaches of space she could find, and everyone noticed her.

The looks didn't bother her. Hell, she'd stared at many of the local population herself. It was just nature, trying to understand the unknown.

Her nails clicked on the hard floor, punctuating each step as she moved toward the end of the line.

She could hear everything around her. All the whispers. The comments. Even a lewd remark or two. She tried to filter them out, ignore them, and focused her attention on the flyer that brought her here. One of her patients had brought it in. Or more accurately he had dragged himself in, and despite her best effort he would no longer be in need of the flyer... Or any of his other possessions again.

Her little underground clinic wasn't doing so well. She normally treated those who needed to be low key. Recent laws and improved enforcement methods had hurt her clientele. The black market drug trade, normally her subsidiary in slow times, was trending toward some new designer drugs. The market would swing back, or she'd acquire the recipes... But until then she was having to pursue alternative income means.

Thus her standing in line waiting to apply for a mercenary contract.

It was only after she reached her place at the end that she looked around at the competition. Comparatively, she seemed both lightly armored and under armed. There also seemed to be few, if any, others with any medical symbols. At least there was one other with a similar taste in hats.

She leaned to one side, and took in the line as a whole. She watched the screening process at the table, timing it. She sighed, and discontinued the lean. Time to wait.
Sarrien Fadder (played by Leon)

I walk into the room, flier in hand. "Wow, there is a lot more people here than I expected. I'm half tempted to... trim the fat myself." A hand moves to one of my lightsabers, to see if anyone reacts, but no one does. Nobody even notices. "Wow, tough crowd." I take off my helmet, and look around. "Looks like none of my Mandolorian brothers or sisters are here, which is pretty good for me. Less actually competition to get the job." I laugh lightly to myself. "Oh god, I need to stop talking to myself."
Remus Doran (played by TheTwilightWarrior) Topic Starter

Four minutes passed. The distance between the captain and Remus grew shorter. Remus' thoughts turned briefly to the other supposed mercenaries/bounty hunters present. A man in the armour with the t-shaped visor and some kind of electronic devices at his hip (devices he could never guess were lightsabres) caught his attention. Funny... he'd enjoy the opportunity to ask of his armour design, yet the man was at the back of the line. His eyes caught some kind of human-rabbit hybrid, possibly female. Her hat, he could appreciate. Could she possibly be a fan of the same movies he used to watch as a child? He'd like that. The man in the power armour stood out the most amongst these people. How could they turn down someone packing such heavy armour? The AI, he barely noticed, as there would've been no possible way of telling her apart from the rest of the people here.

Right in front of him a bounty hunter was exchanging details with the captain. Things such as name, gender, address, prior employment, and so on, were shared with the captain.

"Alright buddy, take this card, and we'll get back to you in due time." The captain said whilst still looking down at his notes and handing him a blue card made of PVC plastic with the details of Fredrickson and a red dot in the upper right hand corner . "Thank you for your cooperation, now get out of my sight." The bounty hunter grumbled and moved out of the line.

"Name?"

"Remus Oliver Doran..."

"Remus Oliv-...." He looked up to see him. He was clad in a 'gas' mask and a cowboy get-up. The captain's face almost turned to shock.

"Mad Gunner Doran! We were wondering if you would show up!"

The line gasped and began talking amongst themselves, astonished by the calling of his name. Mad Gunner Doran? Clearly, they knew of him.

"A pleasure to meet you dear captain."

"Of course! Here's a card, we'll get in contact when we're ready!"

"Thank you dear sir. Have a lovely day."

Remus emerged from the crowd with his card and walked off, the line still chatting amongst themselves as if they've seen Elvis Presley in the flesh.

"Mad Gunner Doran? He's in this mission?" Someone whispered in front of Fushio.

The Altar
[ AI of the color talks ]
The Altar was one of the two places were the AIs components could meet and talk when the main program was disabled, it was also where the AIs on duty were, to monitor all potential threats.
Curently, there was 5 AIs, two of them in deep thought, and three others discussing, one yellow, one purple and one black (the AIs had all in common except their colors) :
-So like I told you, it makes no goddamn sense ! Said the yellow one (or Y, for short)
-But why pursue the operation then ? We virtually had no advantage to gain by doing this !
-Well, at least it's done now, so we don't have to worry about it anymore.
-Yeah but-
-Blakey, stop, there's no use in rethinking the past, what is done is done. Interupted another AI
-Oh, hey, had a nice d-
-Hey, look !
All the AIs "looked" (in reality, they focused on the data P was sending them) at the cow-boy talking with the captain.
-Oh shit....Esmeliana, Raelia, go check the security logs, in cased we missed something, Lania, Blake, with me, it's time to wake up
[The 4 AIs in unisson]-Yes ma'am !
The AIs disapeared of the Altar, as the one left who was thinking let out a smile and a small giggle.
-My, my, this is gonna be funny ! She said with a sadistic smile before disapearing in a flash

What ?
She tries to unlock the files with special access codes, with no success.
Oh man, that's not good.
She fully scanned the ranger before activating her hacking programs to practicly full power, trying to decrypt the files.
As she did, she activated a tracking program, instantly a pair of cybernectic cat ears rose from her head, following the Mad Gunner like a turret, registering everything in the room, from the guy snoring at the other side of the room to the girl crumpling the paper of her energitic bar.
But she understood that reacting like that would mostly drew suspicion, after all, wasn't she designed for stealth ? So she activated her nano-camouflage, disapearing like she never existed while no one was looking, only a split second after activating her ears.
She didn't cared if she had to be the last one to talk to the captain, she WILL sort this out.
She changed her position, moving a few meters away, completely undetectable by all means, and once again leaned against the wall, all systems running at full power, monitoring and analysing everything around her.
She heard the person whispering just in front of the Sul, she quickly scanned the girl.
A Sul medic uh ? For an assassination mission ? How cute.
Hey, might I reming you that biologic need medics ? And that even medics can be extremely skilled in combat ?
Hey Alpha.
Hey.

Alpha is one of the full AIs of the group, and one of the rare one that was human before, she was also the most vehement in defending the bio in debates, but apart from that, she's probably one of the most dangerous and wisest AIs in their group, when she was calm.

Draken Iter (played by Draken901)

"Mad gunner Doran...?" Draken muttered to himself, thinking about what the crowd could be possibly talking about. Who's the guy everyone's talking about? Never heard of him.

He thinks to himself a bit while walking through the line, his armor giving a faint *clink* with each step. It seems a few more people have been dismissed.
Fushio (played by TaintedCaribou)

The excitement and interest coming from the screening officer was hard to miss. The problem is that Fushio simply has no idea who this "Mad Gunner" Doran was... Or rather, still is. There seemed to be a good bit of interest in him joining the mission, if the excited murmurs of the crowd meant anything.

She wondered momentarily which definition of "mad" applied to the nickname. Did he have anger management issues? Or was he insane? She raised her hand toward the individual in front of her, intending to tap him on the shoulder. Asking seemed the most direct solution after all. Her hand never completed the journey, and instead fell back to her side. No point in making herself seem uninformed.

She watched the man in question leave, making a note to instead ask him directly about the nickname, if they ended up working together.

She turned back to resume watching the front, her interest mostly on the table and overall progression of things.

Fortunately for Draken, his time was nearly at hand. Right in front of him stood a man in rags with a carbine slung over his shoulder. The man -bearing an inclination towards Remus- asked of him to the captain right after the captain asked of his name.

"That's none of your business, now give me your name, or get out of my sight." He said dryly, to which the man sighed and began exchanging his details. After he was done, he was given the card and was sent off without a word.

"Next!"

The clanking of Draken's armour was heard as he made his approach to the desk. The clanking prompted the captain to look up and smile slightly. "The Coalition would be a fool to turn down someone as well dressed as you. Anyway, name?" The captain would ask a series of questions to which he'd write down the answers on a sheet of paper with missing details.

Name:

Race:

Gender:

Age:

Method of Hunting:

If a bounty you were hunting had roughly the same value either dead or alive, how would you go about in handling it?:

A young defenceless girl you've met on a mission starts begging for you to help find her parents (or at the very least, guide her to the authorities). What would you do in this situation?:

Do you consider yourself a pragmatist or an idealist?

Have you any prior experience in the military?

Have you ever exposed yourself to any mind-altering substances?

What's interested you about this assignment?

As Remus briefly left the line of bounty hunters and into a different hallway, he was approached by three men. They dressed in combat armour and had rifles and shotguns at the ready. "Hey! You that Mad Gunner fella?"

Remus jolted a little. "Yes..." He responded.

"Me and my boys 'ere are a heck-of-a-lot more better than you, and we can prove it! We can shoot a plastic 60 cm target 5 yards away!"

"Congratulations..." Remus tried to walk past them but they ended up pushing him back.

"Come on then! What? You a pacifist 'r somethin'? Fight back!"
Draken Iter (played by Draken901)

"Draken Iterstone, I am a Human. I am a male, and i'm 27." His voice was amplified by an electronic speaker coming from the suit, making his voice sound a bit echoey(?). Without it, you'd practically wouldn't be able to hear him.

"I've done a bit of big game hunting in my life so I know a bit about tracks and beasts. I usually try to gather info on the person or thing i'm hunting and go from there. If I were to encounter it, I'd try to kill it or knock it out cold with a blast from my Voltage-Gun."

"Personally, i'd still try to get 'em alive. Would be without a mess and might get extra payment if they were to interrogate the fiend. I would probably take her to the authorities first and then try to find them myself with the info she gave me. It wouldn't be too great if she would happen to die from a gunshot if I did find them."

"I'd like to think of myself being a pragmatist. I've never personally been in the military, but like I said, I hunted for a bit back in my early twenties, so I know how to shoot a gun. I'm also one heck of an electrician. Nope, never. Though I do have a remote jack in my suit if that's a thing you're talking about."

"Personally I'm just looking for some more work. Especially on bounties. And this sounded like a good one."
Dyno (played by GGFreak)

As a rather uncouth fellow barks out "Fight back!", a lumbering animatronic rounds a corner behind said fellow, looking as out of place as one of those modern androids would look in a rundown, abandoned themepark made for the extremely niche '90's & dinosaur' interests. The only actual clothing this animatronic is wearing is a pair of nearly shredded jeans, with heavy boots blocking up everything beneath its screaming-for-the-sweet-relief-of-oil knee joints as it moves closer, easily looming over the "*ZrRP* Bullies! Now now buddies, we should all know bullying is to-totally bonkers! After all, words you can't rewinddniweR, so remember to be k-k-kind!"

The jaw of a cartoonish dinosaur head, whose facial expression seems molded into a creepily big grin to show all of its pearly whites, flaps about, out of sync from what's being said. A spark or two fly off as a metal arm reach up to scratch at some rough pieces of green, ripped off rubber by its neck, hinting at a possible scaly cover for the bulky endoskeleton making up the animatronic's upper body. Instead, a cross of tool belts work as suspenders, holding some scrap metal where pauldrons should be, with ancient, industry grade bolts holding the whole ensemble together.

"And remember kids! being mean at all is just whack,Whack,WHCK!*KRzZ*" the massive monstrosity loudly proclaims, dented chest puffed out as it stares down the three men. Meanwhile, a hand rest on the pommel of what is clearly a piece of metal that's been beaten into the rough shape of an axe, holstered one side of the bot's hip. The other side has a sheet of metal hammered into an oversized meat cleaver, or machete. It's pretty hard to tell.
Remus Doran (played by TheTwilightWarrior) Topic Starter

"By 'hunting' we meant bounty hunting, but whatever. That works too." He responded in regards to the hunting part.

"Well, good to know you scum have some sense of honour. You'd be surprised how many accounts are heard of bounty hunters simply forsaking an innocent in need." He commented as he wrote down exactly what Draken said on the answer sheet.

Before long, the whole sheet was filled out and ready to be assessed.

"Thank you for your cooperation Draken Iter." The captain handed him a card given previously to the other bounty hunters. "We'll contact you when we've made our decision. Now get out before we reconsider." He commanded with a waving hand gesture.

***

"Jesus Christ man! What is that?!" One of them screamed as he caught sight of the animatronic.

"Whatever it is, I ain't messin' with it!" They ran off.

Remus was about to pull out his revolvers tucked into his belt at the front until the animatronic came around. Remus looked to the towering metal creature. Rarely did he see massive metal behemoths freely roaming amongst the public. His guess, was that he came he for the exact same reason he did. He nodded to it. "Thank you. May I know the name of my supposed saviour?"
Draken Iter (played by Draken901)

Whitechapel didn't had the time to finish her sentence as Red dashed foward, passing in-extremis between the Sul and the guy in front of her, still in camouflage, she holstered he weapons before linking her sword with the line of her grapplin hook, then as she was merely a fraction of meter to colliding with the guy in power armor, she deactivated her camouflage, leaped over him and activated her grappling hook, throwed her sword in the middle of the confrontation, she then pulled, landing on the sword handle with the tip of her foot before anyone could react, perfectly stabilized.
She used a lot of her calculation power to get this move right, she at least hoped it was worth it.

Remus flinched suddenly at the sword entering the ground and a woman appearing almost instantaneously. Having still been in a state of high-alert, he drew his first revolver from his belt and nearly pointed it at her. As soon as he caught sight of her, he left the revolver facing upwards, so as not to look as threatening. He let out a quick husky sigh from his respirator and holstered his revolver. Remus stared at her for a brief minute. "Who are you? Why did you do that?"
Fushio (played by TaintedCaribou)

Fushio stepped back. Not necessarily the most monumental of actions. It certainly wasn't anything special.... Except for the implications of it.

The Sul had, while seemingly focused on the table and interviews, detected the near invisible hunter, processed their movement, and stepped back to allow for more room between herself and the person before her in line, that the entity could pass between easier.

Her head turned in the direction of the movement. There was the scuffle, dying down, with a cowboy and robot lizard man? And then the mystery guest revealing herself? Itself?

Nope. Just nope. Not getting involved. No pay to be had, and nothing gained by stepping out of line, other then increased waiting times.

Really, in her mind, it was just a natural course of events. You gather a bunch of rough and tumble people to an area, compare them against each other like a half-assed pageant, what else could be expected? Not to mention bounty hunters, outlaws, and assassins could easily make a name for themselves by taking down a more notorious person.

So again, just no. Not getting involved. Unless someone bleeds... And can pay. Of course, non-intervention doesn't mean she can't still listen. In fact, her hand casually flicked one of her ears, as one might rearrange long hair. The subtle move worked to focus her hearing a bit better in the direction of the mild, and rather bizarre conflict unfolding.

Other then that she still just waited her turn, hoping others might grow interested enough to step out of line.
