So in a thread on the RP Discussion forum about Why we like to Roleplay, I brought up the point that if there was a way to switch characters when initiating an RP it would be pretty nifty to see how another person would act as the other person's character. Now I know that someone could just say to the other to check out their character and bring up the option to switch characters and be done with it, but if there was a system for this integrated then it would be a lot easier. I'll explain more in the chat after a response
I'll admit that I've sometimes wished there was an easy way to give a person a character without them having to just rebuild it...
Yes, now that I think about it I didn't consider that point. I don't usually trade characters though
So if there was an option when creating a new thread when in either the Looking for RP or General, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Roleplay forum pages that present an option on whether or not the RP is open to character switching and the like do you think that would be able to make the site cohesive and as quick as possible to meet new people and RP with those people. As well if that option was presented when creating a new PM.

I have been staunchly against allowing characters to be traded between users because of cases of mistaken identity, and issues with someone befriending an anonymous character, being mid-conversation or RP with that character on Tuesday, and on Wednesday sending another message to that character only to discover that the player who received it was not the person they had been talking to for months. An insane amount of personal information or sensitive RPs could be revealed against the will or intentions of other people in this way.
Allowing other people to assume the role of your characters on the forums similarly allows for vast amounts of confusion.
My suggestion would be to simply write the name of the character you are posting as in the post itself.
