I am terribly bothered by the fact that I can't italicize, bold, or link words, or insert photos/videos easily while using the chat function! The chat function is very amazing, and handy. It makes things quick, when I don't want to reload my page, or I have multiple chats going on at once, I can have one open next to the other.
However, it just sucks that if I want words italicised, bolded, etc, I have to either remember the code to do it, or go back to the normal PM on the page to do it.

To be fair, I would be fine if the hotkeys would apply (ctrl + i/b/u ...etc)

The hotkeys are actually added by the same code that adds the button bar to text areas, so these will both happen at the same time.
