Is it possible to add someone to an existing thread of messages? Like, say I start a group rp, start it in a pm, then someone else wants to join in. Is there a way to add them into the preexisting thread so to not have to start a new one and inconvenience everyone involved? Or have I already messed up by not just doing it in a forum?
I don't think there is unfortunately, I've asked this too. You'll need to start a new PM conversation to add multiple recipients. If you'd like to RP privately with the freedom to add new users later you could always make your own group though!

When Kim revamped the private message system, she did not add in the capability to add new members to pre-existing conversation. This is to avoid awkward moments were a private conversation is taking place, and then a new participant is added who can see the entire not-for-them conversation themselves.
We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, but you will indeed have to make a new message including all parties if you need to add participants to a PM role play.
