In the cold, rocky, and mountainous north, there lies a large village called Thornwood. This village is known for it's great prowess, in alchemy and arcane arts in all sorts. However, something has disrupted this community from furthering it's advances.

A plague of undead awakens every night, which constantly try to get into the village itself. As well, as a nightmarish beast simply climbs over it's walls, breaks into it's libraries, and steals all sorts of knowledge and books. The Elder of the village, as called for aid from mercenaries and travelers, as he is not willing to risk the lives of his arcane masters in trying to find the source. A large of sum of gold shall be offered to whoever is successful in this endeavor.

The village is nestled in the middle of a pine forest. It is surrounded by a wall of stone and shale, with one gate at it's east side, guarded by guards in plate armor, holding swords with flaming blades. The inside of the village is filled with stone towers, decorated houses and storefronts, large archives and libraries, tunnels which lead underground, the village square in the very middle, accompanied by a water fountain made of marble, and finally, the Elder's Lair, which leads into a cave in a mountain-side.

In the village square lies a tan skinned man with a long white beard, a balding head, and golden eyes, wearing a red robe waiting for the travelers to meet him, as said on the papers. Village folk of all races occasionally walk around the square, some wearing armor or robes, and some just in normal clothing, going about their business.
