I was working on my character page and I noticed that whenever I put a PNG image (dividers in this case) it takes up far more space than necessary. Making profiles, say a couple months back, I never had this problem. Lately, though, I've had to put the divider into Photoshop and cut down the canvas size, just so it'll look right on the character page. However, with my own art, there isn't any excessive blank space. Is anyone else having this problem or is it possibly a misunderstanding on my behalf?
Do you mean, the divider extends the area of the content space? Or there is additional space around the actual image itself but it doesn't stretch the page?

The latter. It doesn't stretch the page, just takes up more space than necessary.

There shouldn't be anything happening on the code side of things that affects how .png images look. As long as images have valid extensions, they are treated the exact same way. The only thing .png does differently is file size in KB/MB and transparency.

What browser are you using, and does it happen in other browsers too? If you save the image as .jpg and replace the .png does it still do the same thing, and does it look the same save for transparency?

I'd love to take a look at the profile in question and see what's up. :)

I'm currently using chrome. I've only saved the image as a .png, but I can try using it as a .jpg, though usually it just takes using the URL.

I have them both under the mental column. The first one had to be edited and the second one was how it first appeared when I tried to use the URL.

Oh I see what happened. :)

Do you see the checkered area? Even though the checkered area is transparent, it still makes up a significant portion of the image. The dimensions of the canvas are saved even if it's all transparent. The image is taking up all that space because it is actually just that big.

You will need to resize the canvas like you did before for images like this. The canvas size is the size the image will be, regardless of whether it's transparent or solid.

Ahh! I see, so I guess I'll have to stick to smaller canvas sizes or do some editing.

Thank you!
