A young knight is entrusted with the safety of the Princess of Asriael as her escort back to her land, however the knight is a part of a plot to assassinate the king and overthrow the corrupt royal family that plagues the land of Asriael. The princess is quite unaware of the turbulent state of her country as the rival country slowly starts to incite riots against the royal family and the war that is slowly approaching her doorstep. The young knight has instructions on how to dispose of the princess or how to use her to gain the upper hand in the war against the crown, unaware of this the princess starts to develop feelings for the knight.
The ride back to the castle was long and tiring, Lilith knew this. She leaned against the side of her darkened carriage and sighed. She wished father and mother could at least be with her to keep her company, but they were in different carriages on different routes back to the castle. Apparently it was much more safe that way, her father had explained.
