I had an idea!

It would be awesome to have a "Pos(ed) As" search option in Your Posts so I can search forum posts by my characters-- as opposed to having to crack-guess at when I may have posted in a particular rp as a particular chara.

6 years is a long time to remember what month & year I may have played a certain character!

Edit; yes, I realize people delete/change their characters all the time. I personally consider it a double edge sword, "you reap what you sow" situation.

Alternatively, search options could look up posts where character name was mentioned? Typing my character names only show their profiles, not posts where I or others mentioned that name.
I see one big problem when it comes to looking up posts where the character was mentioned. Well it's all good and well for those with very distinct names, what about those with common names? For example, I just did a quick search and came up 11 separate characters named solely Aaron. How would that even work with those kind of situations?

This would definitely be a win

To that I don't honestly really have an answer. I personally would be willing to sift through random stuff until I found my posts (which is what I'm having to do anyway at present), just with a little more accuracy beyond guessing a year/month or possible title of old RPs.

Every character is connected to a user ID. For example, my user ID (for the account Sanne) is #574. Darth Sinnice's character ID is #13672. It's possible to program the search tool to only look for characters whose IDs are connected to my user ID. After all, the purpose is to look through my posts, not sitewide posts, right?

Since this would be a filter for the "your posts" page, we'd most likely accomplished this with a drop down of past and present characters that belong to you. The search would then be done on that one particular character. Even if you had two characters on your own account with identically the same name, the search would be done only on the one you picked from the drop-down.
This actually sounds pretty amazing, truth be told, and I think it's a wonderful idea. Someone the other day asked me what a character that I made and deleted five years ago was like, and I couldn't for the life of me even remember what their full name was.
On that subject, would this search (should it come to fruition) cover deleted characters as well? Be super cool if it did, though I admittedly know precisely nothing about how such things come to pass, and their feasibility.

I'm pleased to see there is some sort of plausibility to this! Jay pretty much asked what I was about to inquire next; how does this factor in deleted characters?

Unless the character was deleted more than six years ago (when I started tracking them), it would be easy enough to include them.
