It is the distant future. Earth is under attack by a mysterious force of crystals that have the ability to contaminate any machine and weaponry at will. The only ones dedicated to combating these threats are the pilots of VCD (Vanguard Crystal Defense)’s Fighting Thunder squadron, or Raiden. One day, North America was attacked by the crystals, forcing the military to take action.
Aboard the Bellwether, the bridge’s operator, Eshiria Portman, began to make reports. “We’ve lost contact with North America’s 4th Air Force and their 8th Infantry Regiment. Are there any survivors from the 3rd Infantry Division and 11th Regiment? Please respond.” She continued, “They’re engaged in battle with the enemy’s 18th mechanized battalion. They’re requesting reinforcements. The 2nd and 4th Armored Divisions are in retreat. More than have of both divisions are reported to be dead or injured.”
The Captain of the Bellwether, Richard Maxwell, began to ask impatiently, “How long must we wait in the shadows?! Why won’t they launch the Fighting Thunders?” Eshiria soon came up with a different report. “Emergency contact from th the army. Immediately carry an attack by Fighting Thunder, assist the North American army, and completely destroy targeted weapons of destruction. Those are their orders.”
Max began to say to himself, “Fighting Thunder. Why even bother with that name.” He then began to speak up. “Hey Raiden, did you hear that? It’s a little late, but hurry and make your way to the battleground. I’ll transfer each of you the info. Too much blood has already been shed, but we’ll do what we can to stem the blow.”
A special pilot, with the callsign “Raiden”, began to enter his fighter, launching into battle.
