So, if you were to see most of my character bios, they include a small paragraph in their bios talking about their ranks/ideas/personal preference on the 5 mature levels I've created. There are 5 mature levels because it includes the main 3 on this site (Sexual, Violence, and Swearing), but then I had to add two more Sensitive and Mature topics I usually am worried with when designing characters, which is Drugs/Alcohol and Depression. I actually checked and there are no actual opinions for the Drugs/Alcohol thing, and Depression is common in roleplays and bios nowadays, I just don't question that. So, is the idea of Drugs and Alcohol actually allowed in roleplays? I mean, yeah, there's a couple bar/tavern/night club forums, but really. Is alcohol and drugs okay?
Alcohol by itself is not against the rules and doesn't fall under a mature category as far as I'm aware - any potential violence that exceeds PG-13 ratings and gets very graphic resulting from said alcohol use would likely require a mature/violence tag though.
For drugs it depends I suppose! Are we talking about medical drugs like insulin, or recreational/illegal drugs like weed, heroin etc.? If it consists of really heavy dark themes and drug abuse with explicit details, then I would personally just flag that under violence. If it concerns medical drugs like insulin or painkillers to manage chronic health conditions a character might have, then that is absolutely PG-13 friendly and requires no tags and can be RPed freely.
Any roleplaying that falls under the mature filter tags needs to go into private areas of the site by default, such as PMs or properly labeled groups. So, it depends on how it's used, and what the results are. There is no rule against your character cracking open a cold one, or even just smoking some weed and chilling out with their buddies, but when the alcohol consumption leads to excessive violence, and the drugs used lead to very graphic situations that wouldn't exactly be PG-13 friendly, then it's best not to RP it in the public areas of the site.

We don't really view mentions of drugs, alcohol or depression as raising above the PG-13ish standard for what's acceptable without warning site wide, unless those things then lead into violence or sexual acts.
