Medieval Roleplay World

Overview
I am in the process of creating a medieval fantasy world and I need your help. I have the basic outline of this world, that is, a world which is set in a fantastical version of late 13th century Western Europe. I also have ideas and tropes which I am eager to see come together in one world. I do not want a historical roleplay with an element of magic, but a world filled with different landforms and realms ruled by Lords, Dukes, Barons, and Kings. There will be magic, depending on what part of the world it may be more prevalent than other areas.



Overarching Goal and Concept
I can write and tell a story, I am also no less creative than anyone else on this site, but I could use people willing to co-opt this project and flesh out this world fully. What I want is a world unlike our own where magic, supernatural and fantastical events happen according to the folkore of each corresponding culture. A world that, like our own does not abide by the law of good or evil but the NPCs and characters do. This will be as our own, where divine power once was greatly prevalent but no longer holds any sway on the individual will of mankind or life in the universe in general. This will therefore be the same or a similar brand of victorian conservative fantasy where the fantastical certainly plays a part in the world but it is secretive. There will be elves and dwarves, but their kingdoms will be far afield and legendary, not (likely) seen in the roleplay. They themselves will act far more similar to how they do in mythology and folklore than in modern fantasy. Witchcraft, sorcery, etc will too be available to the individual player character however it will be through great study that the most meager amount avails itself to that character. That said, there may or may not be gifted individuals who hold greater natural power than most. Curses, blessings, hexes etc will too be effective but not always so literal and prone to backfiring as they are in lore. I have here attempted to give a glimpse of what I want to create, I hope there are individuals out there willing to tag along.



Roleplay info
As far as the roleplay itself, it will be diverse and player driven. The players may do with the world as they please. That said there will be races which will and will not exist in this setting.

Below is a list of races, tropes, and themes which will not be acceptable within this roleplay

• Anything gratuitous in nature. This will not apply to the vast majority of you.
  
  I can understand if your character is a prostitute and goes a little off the wall sometimes or perhaps they are a maniacal murderer who has a violent blood lust due to being recently bitten by a vampire. Perhaps they are insane and their sense of humor involves graphically violent acts. Ok. That will be acceptable, but when you cross the rubicon of good taste where it has no bearing on the story and you are clearly doing it to re-create your favorite anime, there will likely be a problem. For instance there is not always a need for the other roleplayers to have to be subjected to your detailed description of how their head gets cut off. All this in mind, this offense will get you little more than a warning and a "hey buddy, could you not maybe?"
  
• Any race which does not fit the theme.
  
• Mixed races of any type.
  
  perhaps a few will be allowed but that will be after great oversight of what will need to be fully fleshed out character profiles complete with pictures, well-written backstories, and characters of no more than two races.

This seems very excellent, and I would wholeheartedly like to participate in something like this! I just dunno what what character I could use, or if any of them can possibly fit in this setting.

I'm.... astonished. In it's most extravagant form... astonished can't even scrape the surface of my... insane LOVE for this! I don't know if any of my characters would fit into this, considering most of them are majorly fantasy related, but I have a short list of three characters I could... "change" to fit this world building. If you don't mind my company then I would be, ecstatic if you would like to have my assistance in your world creation!

Post what you create here or in the other thread in the 18+ chat (obviously if you meet the prerequisite, I posted there to get a broad array of rpers involved, but of course there is the gratuity clause(see above)).

After you post your creations, maps, additions, and lists of npc's, creatures etc we can vote and add/subtract from those creations. I may open a discord chat if enough people are interested so we can better share information.

Very interested in this idea. I have several characters I could throw into this world, though Raina is one of the ones I actually have on this site.

I definitely gravitate more towards roleplaying through discord than forum-style, but I'm not entirely opposed to that.

As of yet, no there is no written story, that is the goal of this thread, to work together to create content.
