Borris Fieldbor (played by Dreath)

Estalia is a region of great trade in the Old World. Located South of the vibrant regions of Bretonnia and to the East of Tilea it has vibrant trade from regions located in the Southlands and Lustria. Like most of the Old World it is covered in thick bestial woodland filled with all manner of beasts and the few, sometimes large Beastmen tribes. This far south threats such as Chaos rarely if ever appear. The main threats to the region are Beastmen, Skaven and the infighting of local lords. Threats from the seas are rare but the odd Greenskin horde or Norscan raiders sometimes make their way to the shores. But these threats are few and far between. The mighty sea fortresses and navies in the area keep it heavily defended especially those of Magritta. Being a mighty city that controls most sea trade in the region it has a fierce navy defending the Southern Seas around it. However a threat is growing within. Underneath the city and around there have been reports of large Skaven activity. Hearing word of such dangers and knowing of the Skaven threat the Empire has sent three ships containing almost one thousand men to assist in keeping the lands safe. But word had been passed down that the Nuln engineers had designed a special new weapon to help deal with Skaven forces.

After almost a month of sailing from Altdorf the soldiers of the Empire were being sent throughout Magritta to start their operations. The general of the men was Borris Fieldbor. A well kept man with a common set of facial hair for the Empire and a great reputation in urban warfare. He wore the standard armour of an imperial general but we wore a cloak over his shoulders made from a black furred Rat ogre he slayed in Talabheim. Having been successful in several Skaven purges he was sent on this mission to assist Magritta in it's plight. As he was greeted and instructed to meet the city council in the city hall that evening he remained to make sure the Empires new secret weapon was ready. Kept in pieces within several large wooden creates the weapons in question were some form of artillery. Being put into large protected warehouses in theory they could clean out the infestation in a matter of days should they work. Once the weapons were secured and the warehouse put under a standard twelve man guard Fieldbor made his way to the meeting.
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

Tallian merchant ship looked a little storm damage. Not surprising considering how common squalls were. The human crew looked weary some might say uneasy. The reason for that lay below decks. Kaindor, The Scourge of Estallia, paced. The half dozen hand picked Dark Elves that had accompanied him kept their silence. They have all seen him like this and had come to fear it. His anger was not directed at them but at the Iron oathed lordling who had commanded him on this mission.
“In Khaine's name I tire of this. The winds themselves seem to conspire to extend my missary.” He growled.
“Be calm my lord. I see Magritta we will be ashore by nightfall.” Said Keridwen his second most trusted lieutenant and rumoured lover.
Kaindor turn sharply and closed with her. Other all flinch expecting violence. He raised his hand as if to strike her.
“My dear you always know how to please me.” He said as he stroked her face. “These humans have served us well. Their deaths will be quick and painless.”

As the sun sank below the horizon and the tide started to go seven shadows slipped off the Tallian Merchantman. The last shadow severed the ropes hold the boat to the dock and let it drift out with the tide.
“Death or glory awaits us.” Said Kaindor. “The Shades tell us that the humans have a new toy from the anvil heads. Our beloved lead wishes us to take it from them.”
“How do you wish to go about this my lord?” Asked Keridwen.
“First we check the ships. I would put money one of those ugly hulks over there. Kerid you take the monstrosity on the left I'll take the one on the right. Hafina, Andra and Iorwerth are with me.”
With nodded agreement they headed towards the Empire's ships.

The docks were well guarded especially around the Empire ships. With a Skaven threat lurking beneath the city any and all important positions were being protected. This sadly spread the guard thin however. The Empire ships had four men patrolling the decks. Each wore light leather armour and a thin iron chest plate. Wielding a cutlass and small flintlock revolver they were common sight along the docks. Several braziers lit along the docks to light the area and men stayed in groups of three with someone always having a torch to shine light in the darkest corners. As patrols continued with the rather warm, salty breeze from the sea the night was like any other.

At the town hall in a busy war room Borris was brought to the leaders of Magritta. Leaning over a table which had maps of the city and it's sewer system was lean man with messy black hair and two small claw marks on his right cheek. He was dressed similar to Borris except instead of an iron chest plate he wore a leather jacket with two pistols hooked on the inside. Another man poked his shoulder leading him to turn.
"General Fieldbor I presume?" He says inquisitively. Fieldbor gives a nod and salute.
"Indeed sir. You must be Captain Gernow." The man now known to be the Captain nods.
"Yes I am General. I've been leading the guard here against the Skaven for the past three months. Little bastards can use the city better than we can. They pop up out of no where and strike quickly." He taps the scar on his cheek. "Then they're gone like a sinister fog." Borris looks over the maps.
"I'm well aware. I've dealt with my fair share of Skaven infestations. Filthy monsters. These are fairly standard tactics though for them. Likely they're using the outer tunnels and sneaking in from the forests. You could hold off Beastmen with those gates but Skaven can weasel their way in."
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

They moved with the shadows for once avoiding the patrols as they crossed the docks. The mooring
line gave them access to the with careful timing they moved into the captains cabin. He slumped in his bed with some tavern wench. Hafina wedged the door shut as Andra grabbed the wench and Iorwerth the captain.
“Captain your life is on a tread.” Said Kaindor pulling a stool to sit on. “Now you made a delivery of some new toy. Where is it?”
“I won't tell you; you elvish dog.” Spat the captain.
“Andra gut the wench.”
The corsair clamped his hand over the woman's mouth before slicing open her belly.
“Where. Is. The. Delivery?” Demanded Kaindor over the muffled whimpers of the woman.
The captain paled his resolve faded with his bed partners life.
“Ok, ok I'll tell you just put and end...”
“The faster you tell us the shorter her suffering.”
“The General took it to the warehouse... the big one with all the guards.”
Kaindor lent forward intrigued and asked “Which General?”
The wench looked pleadingly at the captain.
“Fieldbor.” Came the answer.
In one fluid motion Kaindor stood and plunged his knife in the woman's heart.
“Where would General Fieldbor be?”
“Heard that he had a meeting with the council.”
“Now captain we cannot have you raising the alarm.”
Andra picked up the stole that her lord had been sitting on and broke it over the human captains head.

The banging and thumping within the captains cabin was noticed by a patrol. Three men, one with a torch knocked on the door.
"Everything alright in there captain?" The man with the torch asks. They wait for a response just to be sure all was well.

In the council chambers Fieldbor was drawing up battle lines on the map.
"You see we shall our biggest number of forces around wells and these large sewer grates." He points out several marked points on the map. "You had the right idea but spread your forces too thin along these alley ways giving the Skaven a chance to crawl through the less defended areas. Costing you men and letting them get in. However if we block off the wells and reserve riflemen along the rooftops we can corner a large amount of them. I'll position my soldiers in patrols of groups of ten. They'll be over looking the regions further out from the main city water supplies. Skaven have a love for poisoning them." He grits his teeth as he notices several weakened areas of the city with his positioning. "Our best hope is to break their morale on the surface and send them fleeing back into the tunnels. If we push on them with forces I'll place outside the main sewer gates we can have them follow in and with any luck find their source." Captain Gernow stepped forward.
"Easier said then done. The sewers nearest the sea are flooding this time of year. But sources indicate the Skaven still using it despite our troops are unable to safely traverse. That gives them almost a third of the city to themselves." Fieldbor grimaced. It was harder fighting Skaven on the sea side. Many new things to take into account. The group continued discussing tactics.
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

The Elves looked at each other then to their lord. Kaindor at first a flash of annoyance crossed his face which was quickly followed by a malicious smile.
“Now here's a chance. Andra and Iorwerth flank the door I need a bloodless take down.”
The elves looked at each other both knowing better that to question their lord. He turned to Hafina.
“Scream like a human.”
She looked confused for a moment until understanding dawned and with it a viper like smile.
“Oh no! My lord nooo...!”
The guards ran to the door and found it barred. Kaindor allow them to ram it twice before removing the jam so they barrelled into the cabin. Andra and Iorwerth each grabbed the nearest guard and choked the life out of them. The third guard was met with the smiling face of Hafina. The she-elf held out her repeating handbows at him.
“Now you are going to say something to reassure the crew or I'll have to kill them all.” Hissed Kaindor into his ear.
“Sorry capt'n didn't mean to interrupt.”
“Good; now strip.” Ordered Kaindor. “You two get dressed into those clothes Hafina see if you can find the wench's dress.”

Across the docks Keridwen guided Nhywyll and Diwrnod towards the other ship. There was a skirting off to one side. The elves paused and drew there weapons. The shadows around them filled with glowing red eyes.
“This our place...”
“Who are you to dare to speak to us?” Said Keridwen.
From the shadows emerged a ratman with a naked blade in each hand.
“You'll make good slaves” Said the Skaven.
“You will not even make good hearth rugs.” Spat back Keridwen.
With a high pitched hiss the Skaven leapt towards the Elves. They were met by the cold steel steel of the dark elves blades.

The remaining guard did as the Elves said. Having a half baked hope that they would actually spare him. Though deep down he knew his fate was sealed. Meanwhile in the port the Skaven leapt at the Dark Elves. Screeching out as a flurry of blades and danced and when the blades moves a stream of blood followed. These Skaven were very lightly armored at best. Most likely slaves with a few Clanrats mixed in. After seven were slashed down the rest retreated into the darkness. The clatter of footsteps was heard as paws hit the wet stone heading into the sewers. On a roof a Skaven wearing a dark cloak like robe peeked over to see the Dark Elves. His nose twitched.
"Elf things." He says rapidly scampering away to report this to his superiors. The commotion wasn't unnoticed as the cries and rapid movement was attracting two patrols of guards. If stealth was a priority the Elves would see best to keep moving
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

Diwnod's blood was up and with a howl of rage he charged after fleeing ratkin. Keridwen turned to Nhywyll and sighed.
“Go find Kaindor tell him what has transpired. I'll go fetch that idiot so he can be fed to the harpies.”
“As you command.”
The elves spilt leaving only a pile of mangled corpses for the guardsmen to find.

The guards were dumped out of the cabin window into the sea cold embrace. The captains dagger was dipped in the wenches blood and placed in his hand. The elves then doused his body with all the rum and grog they could find. Kaindor looked over his crew. Their desigies would not hold up to close inspection but it would allow them to move through the streets. They were going to need a base of operations.

Nhywyll watched the guards escort the wench from the ship. Waiting for them to leave before she looked for her lord. There was something was wrong with the way that they moved. Much too graceful. She smiled she had found her lord; if she had her cross bow she could take them all out and she would be that much closer to captaincy. Alas she did not and she would miss Hafina's company. She decided stalk from the shadows until she could talk to the unobserved.

The warehouse looked prefect for their needs. It was unused but not derelict. There was a door down a side ally which they manage to force when a figure dropped down beside them. Hands went for weapons. Hafina drew her handbows and leveled them at the figure.

It didn't take long for news of several slaughtered Skaven to reach the General. The report listed that the Skaven were killed by blade and no soldiers reported combat or sightings there. The blood splatters around however proved they were killed there and as such leaned towards another power or Skaven betrayal. Skaven were known to back stab each other but the wounds were too clean for typical Skaven infighting. Fieldbor took his leave from the other captains and commanders to head into the city and investigate. With four men by his side they mounted horses and went off into the city.

Hooves clicked on stone roads as the horses made their way through the city. While Mannslieb was high and bright in the sky and thankfully Morrslieb was no where to be seen. This provided some comfort to the soldiers as the Chaos moon was always a foul omen and one which often caused the Beastmen to go into a feral surge. As he made his way through town Fieldbor gave orders to relocate several patrols. It was clear the Skaven were moving and if someone else was here the situation would quickly get worse
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

Nhywyll Dropped to her knee before her lord.
“My lord we were set upon by filthy ratmen. We killed them for their insolence and the fled.” She reported “Unfortunatly Diwnod pursued them into the sewers Keridwen went to … discipline him."
“This is not good. Andra and Iorwerth set up our base here. Hafina get back into your armour and come with me Nhywyll you'll lead us back to the site of the attack.”

Three shadows leapt from roof top to roof top until the came to the site of the attack a little behind the general and his men.
“May the kracken take this luck. Humans...” Spat Kaindor under his breath. “That one Looks inportant. I think we should have a word with him.”

The horses twitched and looked about uneasy. The smell of the Skaven was getting them on edge. They always had an extra putrid scent about them. Fieldbor dismounted and began examining the bodies. He noticed how the blade wounds were clear cut. Not hacked or jagged. Something cut through them like a knife through lard.
"All patrols in this area are accounted for?" He asks a nearby soldier. He nods.
"Yes sir everyone is at their posts. Anyone who could have done this is still here and hadn't reported anything until the bodies were found as the fighting cleared." He says with a salute. Following the bodies and some blood trails he sees how they fall back to the sewers. "This goes against typical Skaven behavior. But this does prove our position. It shows us where the Skaven were and if these blood trails persist we may be able to find their main nest." He heads back to his horse. "Secure this area men, that is your new objective."He says as the men salute and deliver a stern response.
"Sir yes sir!" They cry as Fieldbor heads back to give his orders to the other commanders.
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

The sewers sank. Keridwen found the her way lit by and unnatural green glow. The sound scape that surrounded her was of chittering at an indeterminable distance. The ankle deep water was fetid and black. She wondered how much she could flay Nhywyll still let live to suffer Kaindor's wrath. Red eyes appeared in the shadows. She set her self for combate as the rat men throw themselves at her.

Kaindor waited as the guards spread out securing the perimiter. The elves dropped from the roof surrounding the general.
“ General Fieldbor.. I... presume...” Asked Kaindor in broken Riekspiel.

Nearby guards within earshot turned and in no time had swords raised to the Elves as they approached. Before Fieldbor could get far he pulled the reigns on his horse and they turned to see their guests. With hand by his sword ready for an immediate and bloody response he glared at them.
"What brings Elves here?" He asks suspicious given their garb and how they silently snuck up on them. Fieldbor had only heard stories of Elves. He occasionally saw an aptly named Wood Elf from the forests of Athel Loren but that was rare. He had only heard stories of the High Elves of Ulthwan and their sinister cousins the Dark Elves of Naggaroth. Given their darker garb he had suspicions over which ones these were.
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

The blood was saturating Keridwen clothing. Her research were nearly depleted unlike the Skaven's numbers. There was a loud screech and the attack ceased. She gathered her wits together as a larger Skaven stalked towards her. With a fearsome war-cry the elf threw her self at the Skaven. He blocked the first flurried of blows. He hissed and counter attacked. She blocked the first two blows but the blade on its tail found its mark drawing the Elf's blood. She manage to cut its tail off before the poison on the blade brought her to her knees. The Skaven hissed in anger and dragged its claws slowly across her face drawing blood. Her vision faded and she felt herself being dragged.

"We were trailing rumors of Skaven digging a tunnel all the way to Ulthuan." Said Kaindor. " Rumour lead us here were some of my companions were taken. I intend to get them back."
Borris Fieldbor (played by Dreath) Topic Starter

Fieldbor glared at the Elf highly suspicious.
"A tunnel to Ulthwan?" He snorts with amusement. "It's hundreds of miles by sea. There's no possible way the vermin could have a tunnel leading there." He drew his blade. "Unless you have proof of these allegations I suggest you tell us the real reason you're here." He stared at Kaindor with a dagger like gaze. Not even the silver laced words of the Druchii could deter the intuition of a veteran. Fieldbor had heard enough stories to know when one was full of pure Orc droppings as the soldiers sometimes say.

In the catacombs beneath the city the Skaven assassin who saw the Dark Elves reported it to his master. The master was a Grey Seer. A powerful magic user amongst the Skaven and seen like a priest of sorts. Holding a wooden staph adorned with the symbol of the mighty Clan Skryre he slammed the head of it into a nearby slave who fell back before being beaten to death.
"No no. Knife ears not interfere. Must deal with them. Yes yes." He stares down the large chamber seemingly to be some form of hollowed out cavern somehow connected to the sewer system. Commotion was heard down the tunnel as a Warlord throws Keridwen to the ground.
"Elf thing." The Warlord says as his nose twitches. He wore a bronze coloured metal breastplate and helmet. There was little else on him. The blood splattered Grey Seer hobbles over.
"Good. It make good offering. Good use for the Horned Rat. Yes yes." He says with some more chirping. Nearby the banging of chains was heard as a slave was thrown across the chamber hitting the wall with a splat. Tracing back to the source were two dozen Rat Ogres. Hulking mutant rats fueled by chaotic warpstone. The Grey Seer grins at the captured Elf. "Send them up. We work on it tonight yes yes."Looking about as the other Skaven examined the Elf the Grey Seer slammed his staph down angrily and green energy sparked from the top. "Go!" He snarls. Many frightened slaves and clanrats scurry off on their mission
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

Keridwen railed against her fate. Why couldn't the gods had just let her die in battle on her feet rather than strapped on some heathen altar. She had no illusion of being rescued; in fact she hoped she was not. Kaindor would be imaginative with his punishment. Her cell was small and dank. They had stripped her of her armour, her weapons and most distressingly her cloak. It was cold but it was nothing compared to home. She tested the bars and started observing her guards.

"I plan on going down that hole and kill all the Skaven I can find." Said Kaindor "Now your choice is to stand aside or die."
Borris Fieldbor (played by Dreath) Topic Starter

The catacombs smelt like a horrid mix of rancid flesh, water, feces and wet fur. The smell was absolutely repulsive. Standing outside the cell were two Stormvermin wielding fierce Halberds. The sounds of scurrying could he heard nearby as clearly the tunnels were infested with thousands of the ratmen.

Borris was ready to strike at the Elf for what he knew were lies but he was stopped. Cries emerged from a nearby pat of the city then another. Staring off in the direction of the first cry he saw a man fall back as a Skaven armed with a rusty cleaver leaped onto him and hacked at his face. Wide eyed with disgust he yells to his men.
"The Skaven strike! Repel them men!" He says in his most commanding voice. As he spoke Skaven were pouring out across the city from several drains. They were being aggressive and launching a full assault. This was worrying. With blade drawn he looks to the Elf. "If what you say is true then get to work!" He cries and charges off to the Skaven that was cleaving at the dead soldier.
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

With out waiting for orders Hafina drew her handbows and loosed a hail bolts towards the oncoming ratmen.
"This way" Ordered Kaindor as he made his way to the sewer entrance.
The elves cut a sway through the tide of ratmen. During the melee Hafina saw the human General had turn his back on them so send a couple of bolts towards his back before following her lord below into the sewers.

To Keridwen's dismay the guards seem to be disciplined. They obviously feared her escape to give her such elite guards. She was not sure if she was more honored or annoyed. She paced round her cell gathering up any pebbles she found. She sorted them keeping the heaviest and roundest of and discarding the rest. Her collection finished she carefully tore a strip of fabric for her shirt. She waited until both guards where looking away before loading her best stone into her makeshift sling. She took careful aim before spinning up the weapon and sending the stone into the back of the head of one of the storm vermin. Her aim was true and the stone smashed it way into the back of the ratman's skull. It fell to the floor with out a sound. The other went to check on it's companion. Keridwen's second shoot was not true striking the wall behind the ratman. It turned its head to look at the sound before turning to the elf and hissing.
"Blade ear kill Thil; Stisqat kill blade ear."
With a howl of rage Stisqat charged at the cage. Part of her want to take this quick death but Keridwen's instinct took over and she dodge the clumsy trust. Yanking the halbred in both hands she pulled Stisqat against the bars. Her forehead made contact with his snout stunning him. As he slumped the elf pulled him againts the and chocked the life out of him. She found the keys on his belt and let herself out of the cells. She did not like her odds. Walking quietly with the blade of the halberd in hand she looked for other prisoners to use as a distraction.

The bolts narrowly missed Fieldbor as he cut down into the swarm of Skaven slaves. The near naked ratmen armed with what looked to be at best, old rusted knives and tools were quickly cut down.Several slashes dropped at least one per hit. With his horse rearing up it slammed down. Hooves cracked the skull of the unlucky rodent staining the ground with red. Seeing the two patrols of his men arrive Fieldbor instructed them to keep up the pressure as he ran off towards the warehouses to get their new secret weapon.

Meanwhile inside the tunnels their were few other prisoners. Most seemed to be unlucky human merchants mostly too weak to move and covered in wounds. Normal rodents scurried by with beady red eyes as the sound of footsteps approached.
"Yes yes. Bring to Grey Seer. Reward Skittersly well yes yes." Says an almost excited voice. This would seem to be Skaven on their way to pick up Keridwen and bring her for the ritual. She would have at most twenty seconds before the Skaven arrived. It was hard to tell with the chambers echoing as sound traveled through them.
Kaindor (played by CypherDorran)

Keridwen despaired at the state of the prisoners but they would have to do a human shield. Opened the gates and pulled the others put and threw them towards the sound of the on coming Skaven. She headed upwards and she heard the screams of the dieing.

Kaindor lead the others into the sewers hacking their way through clanrats.
