One of the biggest aggravations I’ve found on this site is the inability for the site itself to resize images that are too large. Especially since I have to use a third party website just resize images several times.

Is there anyway circumvented? Perhaps something that just resizes images that are too large automatically?

Well, I have imgur to do that, but it’s also frustrating to have to resize the image anywhere between 1 to 3 times to make sure it’s small enough without being too small, if makes sense.

Other sites have this feature to where if the image is too large, it’ll resize the image to its largest feasible size.

I 2nd Kami's request. It is annoying to have to resize an image, that RPR deems too large, over and over until the site deems it worthy enough. I don't see the harm in having RRP shrink it itself. Save everyone time and hassle.
Now, I am pretty well a newbie when it comes to anything graphic-wise when it comes to a computer. I resize and edit images with paint, because that is the level of my mastery, but even paint will tell you at the bottom how big your image is, not solely in pixels but file size.

For things like adding an image to a character's profile and such, I usually host it on imgur just to avoid that hassle in the first place, which also has the added bonus of not putting strain on the server of RPR. That way I can have my cake and eat it too. Takes out having to resize over and over and that saves me a lot of energy that would otherwise be eaten up by my frustration.

The difference between https://tinypng.com and Imgur is that tinypng compresses the image and Imgur resizes it. This is why it is so much more effective at getting images below the permitted upload limit.
It is a matter of file size, not really image size. I've uploaded fairly large images in to rpr and they were compressed in such a way that they still look ok and that they will upload.

If you're wanting to keep an image at the full size, then don't upload to the gallery and direct link it through on the profile.

I don't really see it as a hassle or an issue, but that could just be due to me being used to it.

I use GIMP to edit my file and image size, but as suggested above there are a few sites that can alter the size for you - each option only takes a few seconds.

Yes, you have to go our your way, but considering how much the site offers, and for free, i'd say it's a teeny tiny sacrifice. ^^

I have long intended to add an image cropper to the site for images whose dimensions are too large. Even with that in place, however, we'll probably still keep very strict caps on file size uploads, however, as the larger an image is the more processing power it takes for the Server to manipulate it (whether that's cropping, scaling or compressing) and there are a whole lot of you folks. ;)

I've just seen too many good sites fold when their hosting costs got too high, and this is often related in part to images.
