I know there have been suggestions for this already, but I have an additional idea to implement it with a function RPR already has.
We have the existing choice to sort our characters into the Inactive/Retired category, but this doesn't seem to do anything outside of being a creator's note that hardly anyone will see. If we're already able to choose categories in character search, could we exclude profiles under Inactive/Retired as well as hide them from Browse Characters?
This is how I imagine it to work: any profile with that box ticked doesn't show up in the results, regardless of what other category they've marked because it's assumed the action to click it is a firm decision to hide your character.
Unless I've missed something, I think this would be more streamlined than making a new 'WIP' function, giving you the choice to hide a character for whatever reason and not just because their profile is unfinished.
