((I do allow pirates, as they spend much of there time at sea))
"Heave ahead, and put yer minds into it, scallywags!"

Captain Jonas Brown stood above his crew, up onto the crow's nest of the ship. His one hand gnarled around the pillar of the mainmast, and the other tortiled around a bottle of rum. His eyes, the same color as the bottle skewered in his hand, scrutinized his men before falling upon the sight of the ocean-vast, blue and open. The tides here were stronger, riling up against the rook of the ship, bombarding and thrashing with a wild feat that only it mastered.

He took a swing of his drink, finishing whatever remained in it before letting the bottle leave his grip, and pebble into the water.

He was on a journey, one that called for danger, mermaids, and treasure.

It was three weeks since she'd run away from home. She couldn't believe it. Her main priority these days was stay alive and keep swimming. Trust no one unless they prove themselves.

She had purchased a new stock of provisions yesterday. Now, she was actually kind of bored. With a flick of her supple tail, she headed towards the nearest town. She had a map of the mer towns practically inlaid in her brain. It would out be a few minutes of swimming until she arrived.
"Sink me! 'ave we actually reached th' grotto?" His tongue had bowed off the words with a pinch of disbelief; his voice streaming a higher baritone than his normal authoritative tone. He had stepped his way down the crow's nest, a little while back, and now his boots printed across the deck with an engineered tap. In his calloused hands was now a map, old and stained of the smell of salt and boat. His finger picked up at the dog-eared corner, caroming around the lined edges of geometric shapes and landing at a marked X rightly mid-centered. Tapping it on the location, he drew the map shut and locomoted closer towards the water. Peering down, he stared at the waves.

"Ye reckon 'tis it?" The question was more directed to himself, yet heads turned. Slowly, men discarded their positions joining him to study the waters to the left of them. The ship was silent-each fighting the urge to send another to explore. But as they said, dead men, tell no tales.
