I thought it might be fun for us to list our characters and then pick a really well known quote that properly sums each character up. Seemed like it might give us a little insight into each other and the characters we're portraying.

I'll start:

Adunaphel

"You think I'll be the dark sky so you can be the star? I'll swallow you whole."-Warsan Shire

Celefindal

"Always do what you are afraid to do."-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Delphine

"There is only one way to free yourself of guilt, embrace your sins."- Penny Dreadful

Entling

"Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." -Helen Keller

Laurelin

"Everything is funny, as long as it's happening to someone else." - Will Rogers

Oh my, this is lovely!

I only have one character right now and he's under construction, but I absolutely love quotes so here goes. I hope two isn't cheating. ^^;

Eli

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” -C.G. Jung

“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.” - G.K. Chesterton

It's going to be really fun watching this thread! :)

I love Jung! And that last quote just hits so hard. Really resonates with why we do all this, doesn't it?

You should look up Warsan Shire, her poetry is life changing for anyone who's overcome a lot of inner turmoil from past trauma.

:D and thanks! I think so too.
Cyrene Ark

“Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. Man’s life is independent. He is born not for the development of society alone, but for the development of his self.” -B. R. Ambedkar

Fujibayashi Guren

“I realised that if my thoughts immediately affect my body, I should be careful about what I think. Now if I get angry, I ask myself why I feel that way. If I can find the source of my anger, I can turn that negative energy into something positive.” -Yoko Ono

Hitotsuyanagi Hoozuki

“Rules and responsibilities: these are the ties that bind us. We do what we do, because of who we are. If we did otherwise, we would not be ourselves. I will do what I have to do. And I will do what I must.”-Niel Gaiman

Inari Kano

“I have absolutely no pleasure in the stimulants in which I sometimes so madly indulge. It has not been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason. It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom.” -Edgar Allan Poe

Matsudaira Kyoraku

“All parents damage their children. It cannot be helped. Youth, like pristine glass, absorbs the prints of its handlers. Some parents smudge, others crack, a few shatter childhoods completely into jagged little pieces, beyond repair.” -Mitch Albom

Matsudaira Kagami

“Some people fall apart when they get hurt. Puddle into apathy and despair and never recover. They wait all their lives for someone to come along and rescue them.”-Karen Marie Moning

Matsudaira Mikage

-Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.-Anais Nin

Thibault Weissman

-“When love is not madness it is not love.” -Pedro Calderon de la Barca

I had a lot of fun with this! Thanks for suggesting this idea~ Though I’ll be honest here, I only really found those quotes on another website, so I am not 100% sure if it is accurate if put in context.

They were very lovely regardless and I enjoyed reading them! If anything, it makes me want to get to know your characters better, which was what I was hoping to accomplish. :D Thank you for sharing!
That´s fun ! - I love quotes and love using quotes in my RPs if possible... soooo, let´s think..

Hou Xin
Gernerall speaking, the Way of the Warrior is resolute acceptance of Death - Miyamoto Musashi

Himura Kenshin
Once you have a power, sometimes you are put into a situation which makes you carry extra burdens, and live all your life with pain. - Seijuro Hiko

I love Jung too! <3 It's a bit of struggle for me to go through his actual writing, but there's just so much depth there it's no wonder writers and creatives are still doing spinoffs from his ideas a hundred years later.

And that second quote encapsulates a great deal my childhood, really. People kept telling me that fantasy was an "escape" from reality, a coward's way out. But this quote, among a few others, helped me realize that fantasy isn't just an escape, it can be a tool for healing and a way of re-programming the brain to face its own monsters. It's pretty awesome! :)

I'm definitely going to look Warsan Shire's poetry up. Thank you for sharing this!

Aw man, I just can't resist a shout out to my girl Anais Nin. XD This really inspired me to look up your Matsudaira family, and I have to say their family dynamics sound deliciously complicated! I never did finish Vampire Knight, and I really wish I had the time to do it now.
Queen_of_Hell

Frances /

"They made you into a sword and told you to find peace." Dunno where it's from, I saw a picture of it and there wasn't any credit.

Ellanore LaCroix

"There are no bargains between lions and men - I will kill you and eat you raw." Song of Achilles
Ellanore is probably the most hateful character that is impossible to deal with simply. Merciless, cold and alone. She only has herself. All that violence and hate is to shield herself from the possible betrayal that can harm her again.

Ooooo that lost one gave me chills. So lovely. I'm reading the book 'Circe' by the same author that did the Song of Achilles. I LOVE her writing.

I absolutely agree. Madeline is one of the best writers of today's age.

XDD, thank you! And well, if you are interested in it I would recommend reading the manga instead. The anime is, lacking, and there is more content in the manga haha. Though, I can’t really remember the storyline at this point, it was pretty good in my opinion.
I know, pretty late to the party... however, I just tumpled over this saying - and I have no idea who the source is... yet it fits both of my charcters very well I believe.
