You could remember her sweet face from your childhood- Lady Helena Brier of Rosewood, the daughter of the Lord of a Rosewood. You remembered summers spent sipping sweet wines snuck from her father’s store, flowers laced in her hair, the budding romance that grew as the season chilled and turned to autumn. And with autumn, came your leave, a sudden and tear filled farewell.

It had been years since you last saw her, and you found yourself in Rosewood once more, to gather the new Lord- war against bandits brewed on the border, and you had been instructed to partner yourself with the forces of the Rose Order to quell the riots and violence. But more than that, you had not forgotten that summer love, and fully intended to ask for the hand of the dear Lady Helena- until, you fell face to face with this new Lord.

They called her Lady Thorn now, and after her Father’s death she remained unmarried. Her long peachy locks were chopped short, her soft face now sharp and serious. And long gone were the days of summer drinks and sweet loves- she regarded you as little more than a stranger, a simple ally to fight alongside.

With battle imminent, you and Lady Helena must handle the bandits swiftly...but when your opponents become more deadly than you anticipated, suddenly it’s a fight for your lives, and the fate of the kingdom rests on your shoulders...

ALTERNATE: If you’d prefer to ditch the romance backstory, this is fine! We could simply have them strangers, but this is intended to have a romance subplot!
If anyone would prefer, this can be turned into a group RP- I know this tends to happen with some RPs, and in the event of this becoming a group RP I will need only one romantic interest. Please let me know if you’d prefer 1x1 or a group RP.

My question is, what kinds of magic would be acceptable? I notice you are marked as low magic, but not none. How capable of magic would you want humans in this setting? Or would magic be from entirely external elements (magic beings and the like)?

I don't know. I'm more high magic, but your idea of magic being limited to external elementals is a good one, not people..

Truthfully I find it mildly hypocritical that I marked it as low magic; not sure what I was thinking when I did that, given one of the two plot directions I had in mind, but that trait is honestly quite flexible. Helena herself is entirely avoidant of magic and the setting is intended to be low magic, with the citizens being skeptical and perhaps mildly prejudiced against magic, it’s users and even nonhuman entities (elves, vampires, etc). I am flexible in this range though, as I said, and wouldn’t mind if a high magic character is involved- it’ll introduce an interesting plot point, of Helena attempting to get over that sort of mindset she keeps.
