Do you have any songs that just smack you with inspiration? Maybe the first or fiftieth time you heard them? I want to know! I love songs that just fill people with a wave of inspiration and don't worry about sticking to lyric-less instrumentals. The song Jack Sparrow by Left Boy is, I believe, a trap song. Not my normal area of music, it's modern and tech-y sounding with lyrics and I still got insane inspiration from it!
This isn't really for inspiration, but the song Nothing Left to Say by Imagine Dragons always makes me feel calmer, and that helps me write better.

Oh god I love imagine dragons!! Bleeding out is a big one for me, it gives me a lot of angsty feels for when I need to write scenes like that!

Yup! Anything in Night Visions or Smoke + Mirrors is really good!
Maybe it's a different kind of music but here are some that lift me up sometimes:

Storms in Africa 2 (Enya)

I can't remember the name of it but that "I get knocked down, but I get up again" song with the hilarious name

I hope you dance (Lee Anne Womack)

The Sign (Ace of Base)

Everything's Alright (from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar)

Carry On (the Cranberries)

Don't Analyze (the Cranberries)

"Appalachian Spring" by Aaron Copeland

"Simple Things" the version by Jewel

"Hands" by Jewel

"All you need is love" Beatles, of course

"Here Comes the Sun" the Beatles!

I've got some guilty pleasures in this list, and some really common ones.

  • "Rise" by Katy Perry
  • "It's all the same", "you're going down", "Riptide", and "Odd one" by Sick Puppies
  • "This means war" Nickelback
  • "Throne" by Bring Me The Horizon
  • "Indestructable" and "Sound of Silence(cover)", "stupify", "stricken", "are you ready" by Disturbed
  • "Naked", "Can I be him", and "you deserve better" by James Arthur
  • "Mordred's Lullaby" by Heather Dale
  • "Hate me" and "Je'tadore" by Eurielle
  • "If you fall I will carry you" by Efisio Cross
  • "Song of Durin" by Eurielle as well
  • "Girl like you" Maroon 5, they actually have a lot of songs I really like for writing.
  • Everything Jessie J is perfection and I won't take any blasphemy about her.
  • "God is a woman", "No tears left behind", "Breathin'", "Into You", "Love me Harder", and many more by Airana Grande
  • "Without Me", "Alone", "Bad at Love", "Sorry", "Colors", "Him & I", and "Strangers" by Halsey.
  • "Young Blood" 5 seconds of summer
  • "Closer" and "Paris" Chainsmokers
  • "In my blood", "Nothin Holdin Me Back", and "Stitches" by Shawn Mendes

I listen to a LOT of music through out my day, while working, and while writing. Most of these songs are going to definitely be part of my evening and more than likely playing in the background while I'm writing. Some songs have completely inspired characters, starters, and even entire roleplays.

Also, anything Sam Smith, unless it's that new one he's done with Calvin Harris... I'm so upset about him being auto-tuned. SO UPSET. Ruined his voice, but I love everything about Sam Smith. lol Okay, I'm done now.

Music is quite inspiring. Right now I've been listening to old high school favourites as it inspires e to remember things from my school daze and I use them in my school RP. Here are a few albums that have me inspired over the last couple weeks:
  • Rolling Stones ~ Sticky Fingers (Thank you SexySultryBabe for bringing this one back into my mind)
  • Led Zeppelin ~ Physical Graffiti
  • Bob Dylan ~ Blood on the Tracks
  • Cream ~ Disraeli Gears
  • Black Sabbath ~ Master of Reality

Being a musician I'm playing both versions of "blood on the tracks" plus "desire" by Bob Dylan thanks to dunedain ranger.
