The Hayes Family (played anonymously)

It was a chilly night, and the Hayes children, minus Luke, were preparing to get trick-or-treating. After bidding farewell to their parents, they were off.

Susan, on the other hand, was tending to Luke and putting up decorations. She eventually met up with Joseph, who was sitting on their porch, waiting for trick-or-treaters. They were all set for Halloween.
Muttering under her breath and dodging people on her way back from the coffee shop, Cynthia had enough troubles today without adding trick-or-treating children and party-goers filling the streets. There was a stack of cases that had to be looked over, and here she was, hurrying through the area so that she could at least get something done before the night was over. Even if she could only make a good couple of connections before the clock struck midnight to November 1st, she was fine with that.

However, Cynthia found herself overhearing some children bidding farewell to their parents before running off. Watching after them with a pause, Cynthia just sighed and continued on once they were out of her way.

Really, sometimes there was such a downside to working where people were commonplace in the area. More so when it was a holiday such as Halloween. It was not that Cynthia actually hated kids -- on the contrary, she actually loved them. In moderation. So events such as trick-or-treating often made Cynthia feel like she was overwhelmed just because of all the sights and sounds she had to take in.

With Cynthia's line of work...? That was actually troubling.

The couple watch as people walk around the neighborhood.
Lea and Cian moved on to the next house. It was a further ways down the road, but they didn't mind. They were happy for the children they were supervising for their first Halloween. Twin devils, a fairy, a cute little cat, and...a cactus...skipped down the road with Cian and Lea behind them.

"Stay with us, kids!" Lea called as her younger brother shook his head once again. "We almost lost the cactus earlier! We really don't want to lose anyone!"

Thankfully for her, the kids heard her and retreated back. The child in the cat costume pointed to a house and jumped up and down, grabbing onto Cian's pant leg in the process.

"Ms. Wea! Mr. Cian! Housey!" she squealed.

Cian groaned as the child grabbed onto his leg. "All right. Let's get to this house before it gets darker," he told his sister.

Lea nodded and called for the kids. "This way, kids." The children-devils, cat, fairy, and cactus-followed their chaperones to the house where a couple sat outside.

Susan looks up to see the group heading towards the house. She, Joseph, and Luke were wearing costumes made to look like the Parr family's supersuits from The Incredibles. It was kind of an inside joke that Susan suggested they make into their costumes.

Susan smiles at the group and nudges Joseph to make sure he knew people were coming.
A chime in Cynthia's purse caused her some pause in her actions... and perhaps not at the best of times. While distracted with her phone, Cynthia had bumped into one of the oncoming kids that had been with a group, and the jostle as well as surprise cased her to grip her coffee order a bit too hard. Hot coffee was now on her work clothes and honestly did not feel too pleasant against her skin.

There was a moment where it seemed like an expletive was about to be uttered from Cynthia's lips, but she was able to hold back and purse her lips with a stifled groan. Looking to the kids that were walking past, and then to the house with a couple -- Susan and Joseph -- sitting out in the front, Cynthia hoped that perhaps they could... well, offer assistance at the very least.

"Pardon... I don't mean to ruin the fun for any of the kids here..." Cynthia started, glancing again to the children that were also around. "So I'll attempt to keep this brief: I... uh... I appear to have had an accident. Can I trouble you for a towel at the least?"

"Oh, sure," Joseph says, getting up and going inside the house, returning a bit later with a roll of paper towels. "Here you are," he says as he tears about 7 of them off the roll and hands them to Cynthia.
The group got closer until they saw the couple outside in front of them. The kids started running and stopped when they saw someone in front of them. They jumped up and down as Lea and Cian caught up with them.

"Good job on waiting, guys," Lea told them. "Cian'll give you extra treats when we get back to the village."

Cian gave her a Seriously? look, but seeing as how the children were behaving, he nodded and smiled. The family seemed to be busy at the moment, but that didn't stop the kids from getting excited.

Susan, not currently preoccupied with anything, greets the group with a smile. "Hi there!"
"Twick-or-tweat!" the kids announced to the woman. Cian, once again, shook his head while Lea giggled a little bit.

"Sorry about the kids. This is their first Halloween, and they're really excited," Lea told the woman. She then turned to her brother and glared at him. "Have some fun, will ya?" she asked him through gritted teeth. Cian then took a step back, fearing that his older sister may scare him.

The kids didn't pay attention to the scene behind them. They just wanted some sort of treat.

Susan smiles as she drops 2 pieces of candy into each child's Halloween bucket and looks up at Lea. "It's alright, I totally understand. I've got 6 kids, so you can imagine the absolute chaos," she says, giggling.

((I'm so, SO sorry about taking so long!! I ended up getting slammed by schoolwork this week and didn't have much time to get online.))

"Thanks," smiling somewhat, Cynthia accepted the roll of paper towels. She turned away from everyone as she did what she could to sop up the coffee that had been spilled all over her. Once sufficiently cleaned up -- or as cleaned up as she could manage, Cynthia handed back the rest of the roll to Susan or Joseph before going and tossing the now coffee stained paper towels away in the garbage bin.

A part of Cynthia felt rather guilty that she had taken up some time from the visiting family. Straightening herself out, Cynthia sighed and then turned to Lea and Cian. She then looked to the kids and offers them a smile before crouching down a bit.

"Sorry for taking up any of your time..." Cynthia apologised. She then turned to her purse and opened it. She had a bowl on her desk usually that she kept full of candy in theme with the seasons and holidays. Taking out a few candies herself, she offered them to the children and dropped them into their buckets as well.

"Have a good rest of the Halloween, kiddos," Cynthia said, standing back up and then nodding to Joseph and Susan. She departed with one last apology to them as well: "and sorry for taking up your time as well. Thank you again for allowing me to get dried."

"That's alright, happy to help! Take care!" Joseph calls, going inside to put the roll away.
Lea nodded in understanding as the kids cheered with their candy. Cian giggled at the sound of the happy kids. Lea then turned to the host family and smiled. "Well, you made their night. They are excited now!" She then turned to the kids and smiled. "All right, kiddos. Your parents are waiting for you. I know that you want more candy, but we can get some at the village."

The kids looked disappointed at first, but after that last statement, they cheered. "YAY!" they cried out. Two of them held onto Lea's dress while another held Cian's hand. The siblings turned around and waved at the family. "Happy Halloween, and thank you!" they called out.
