Happy ****ing birthday, thought James as he ran through the city-turned-battlefield. His sniper rifle bounced up and down on his back as he ran full sprint to the next waypoint. Sweat dripped from his face as he frantically tried to avoid the massive chaos around him:
Banshees dove, taking out his fellow marines and ODSTs. Brutes decimated UNSC troopers with their gravity hammers, Elites slashed with their swords. Ships fell from the sky, buildings crashed to the ground.
Happy birthday indeed. Today was the day James turned 26. He and his squad celebrated by risking their lives. His present? A magnum with his name engraved on it. Lovingly shipped from home.
This same magnum happened to be the weapon he used to shoot two Unggoy in the face. They were particularly annoying due to the fact that their plasma pistols and Needlers were harmful in more than one way. Significantly less dangerous than an Elite, but the Grunts' weaponry was still deadly. (CHKCHKCHKCHKCHKCHKCHKCHKCHK- BOOM!)
James made it to the waypoint and found that the objective was dead.
"Damnit!" There were supposed to be civvies who hadn't made it out in time, and were trying to escape. They were hiding out in a building- Which had been cleared out with a few Brutes. The motion sensor told James that there was someone behind him, and he promptly spun around with his pistol poised to sting.
A jackal. A quick shot to the head solved that problem.
James decided the building could still serve as a good vantage point, and began to climb the stairs to set up. Today was gonna be a long day.

Above is a sample of the type of post I tend to make. Halo is a pretty fun game, and I've decided to start an RP with it. 1x1 is preferred, but I wouldn't mind more than one person. Knowledge of the Halo universe is not required, but it would be nice to at least know what we're talking about.
Quality and quality is my preference. (What I mean by that is this: Sometimes a good quality short post isn't as good as a good quality long post. When possible, please do longer posts. I know it's not always possible, and I don't mind the shorter posts, but when it is possible please make it so.) Thank you for your time.

Ive only played as far as Reach, and it looks like youre talking about Halo:Odst, what game would we be basing our characters off of and what type of solider could we be? And another two questons; Have you ever played reach? And if so, could we use our current spartans ranking in the rp?

I have, in fact, played Reach (although I unfortunately don't own it. I played it on and off at a friends' house.) I know the story well enough, but I am talking about Halo 3: ODST. In case you haven't followed the story, it takes place directly after the Covenants' slipspace jump in New Mombasa, from Halo 2.
Unfortunately for our UNSC buddies, the Spartan program isn't revived until a few years later. Chief's out kicking ass in space, so the ODSTs are the next best thing.
Of course, the story doesn't have to be entirely canon, but I'd prefer to cultivate the camaraderie amongst a team of ODSTs as they're facing near-certain doom via alien invasion.

alright, tell me what you think of my ODST Duff. Im hoping he can be some sort of comic relief in the stressful warzone, without being a comedian at the same time. But feedback is always good.

another thing i do have a question about though; How are we going to do combat? a series of die rolls, stats for our characters, or its an assumed hit wth our weapon specialaztions and any other weapon we'd have to make a die roll?
I always carry a d20.

For me it's more about the character dev. than the combat. If you'd like you can use the die. I personally don't like using it (although I may experiment if the opportunity presents itself) since we aren't having our characters fight each other, I really wouldn't see it as necessary to use dice.
