Alright boys and girls, we’re gonna play a new creative writing game I just came up with. I call it... The Narrative Game.

The Rules are simple:

Person 1 proposes a simple sentence composed of 2 to 4 words. Person 2 must then turn that sentence into 3 different scenarios by expanding the situation into a paragraph 3 to 5 sentences long.

Person 2 then gives a new sentence so the next person to turn into paragraphs.

Example:

Sentence: She hit him.

Paragraph 1: Her body tensed as she closed her fist tightly. As if on instinct, her arm thrust forward at a near lightning pace. The impact connected straight into the man’s chest, creating a small indent before sending him flying backwards. (Action fight scene)

Paragraph 2: Her body began to tremble in anguish as tears formed into her eyes. Her teeth grit as she raised her hand before slapping her boyfriend harshly on his cheek. The pain reverberated into his body as it became abundantly clear what she was saying. ‘how dare he take advantage of their love’. (Tragic romance scene).

Paragraph 3: Her heart was pounding in her chest. As the armed assailant stepped closer, her fight or flight instincts kicked desperately in. Finding the nearest object she could grab, she immediately swung it with all her might, desperate to stop the attacker from getting any closer. (Suspense horror scene).

With any luck, this will get our imagination train tracks running and we can all play a game of making a lot out of very little. ^^

First sentence to start us off: He took it.
Berry opened the garage door, letting in the sunlight. He hadn't had his coffee yet, so the painfully obvious wasn't quite that yet. He stepped out, pulled his keys from his pocket, and stuck it to where his car door was supposed to be. When it didn't land in a key whole, a sudden bust of awareness made him realize that his car was no longer there. There was only one man who could have taken it from him without his knowing.

"Dinkleburg..."
(Wacky comedy)

Upon reaching the castle, the heroes found that they were too late. The guards had been cut down to the man, and the doors to the sacred vault had been blasted apart. The dark lord had already been there, and the Domorian Crystal was gone. Our heroes would need to get it back quickly before the unthinkable happened.
(High fantasy adventure)

It was only one more time. What would it hurt? Yes, the potion had been causing him problems as of late, but he'd been weening himself off of it. Quitting it cold turkey wasn't going to work anyway. Anyone could see that. Just a little more to get him though the day. One sip. Oh, he barely tasted that. A little more. Yes. He could feel it. What was the harm? Down went the whole bottle, and there Jen could finally feel his other self waking up.
(Horror thriller)

Next words:
Well, that was pointless!
