I need help! What kind of characters should I make?? What personality type and such??

Well step one would be "what sort of story do you want to tell?"
what genre would be a good start. High school? Just general modern day? Fantasy? Medieval fantasy? sci fi?
there's a lot of genres lol, but picking a fairly common one like modern day is probably a good start. Stick with something faintly familiar at first maybe?
Once you know your genre your next choice is "okay, male or female? or other?" and of course deciding what sort of thing you'd like to GET from this rp.
Do you want romance? Do you want drama? Do you just want a chance to look super cool? (lol)
figuring out the sort of story you'd like to tell, or at least help tell, will help you figure out the sort of character you'd like to make.
My only advice for personality beyond "whatever you like and don't get too bogged down with the details yet" is "please please please make this character at least slightly social!"
antisocial characters CAN be interesting to play, but you have to FORCE them to interact and that can be pretty annoying as a writer and for other players.
in most rps, the more outgoing and sociable a character, the easier time you'll likely have getting them involved.
I hate to say it but, most protagonists are either natural extroverts, or introverts forced into extraordinary circumstances.
characters who stick to the sidelines and don't talk to people are boring to play and boring to read.
I will though suggest that you maybe pick a few key adjectives as personality descriptors, then kinda.. throw them into a few light brief scene rps to get a feel for the character. I find that I CANNOT develop a character's personality especially without seeing them "in action" first. I have to actually step into their shoes, stomp around a bit and then they start "telling me" things.
Also don't be afraid if they start to get away from you a bit and act in ways you didn't have written down. Sometimes characters do that, they change, they adapt, they defy our will and become a different person to who we thought they were. Roll with that, embrace it and don't be afraid to change their personality writeup if you learn that actually they aren't that "nice" or honestly they really don't much like kittens after all or something lol.
Character creation should be a pretty organic process, expect to revise, rewrite and rejig things several times before you have a working rough outline.
