In the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millenium, there is only war...
Oh boy, I've been in the Warhammer mood these past few months, and while I already have an ongoing RP based around Warhammer Fantasy, that simply isn't enough to jolt me. I'm going to have to double down real hard on Games Workshop with a bit of Daemonic containment and Xenos genocide. Time to butcher the enemies of the Emperor with extreme prejudice. Of course while I say this, one does not necessarily have to be a member of the Imperium, or a Human for that matter to take part. All that is required is a bit of appropriate familiarisation with the setting. And I'm positive they'll be a good few on here who know lore, I'm already aquainted with a few.
In terms of timeline, I am at my best mostly comfortable with the waning days of the millenium, around the time of the 13th Black Crusade. Although, if a freeform Roleplay is what people are comfortable with, we needn't abide totally by canon. I prefer that our characters make our own fates, especially in such an expansive universe like 40k's.
Those who have RP'd with me personally know that I don't choose to play a DM's role even in the RPs that I lead. There are no rules, with the only exception being that you use a character that befits the setting. I can work with paragraphs that contribute to the theme, or even just a consice few sentences which help further the plot, which is something that we can weave along the way.
My style of Roleplay is also atmospheric; there will be themes of graphic descriptions and strong language -- depending on background characters, anyway. So discretion is advised.

Far future, perhaps galactic teleporters and fast terraforming
Wartime/soldier RPs. Combat is a given and will likely be graphic, but there's the potential for non-combat "in the trenches" scenes. World War 2, Vietnam, etc.
