This is something that I've been working on for a good two to three years. As the title suggests, it's a fantasy world. Two continents, (arguably) eight countries, (perhaps) three oceans, and lots and lots of culture. (A map, if you want to see)

I've been wondering what to do with this whole thing for a while, now. But I'm not exactly confident enough in my writing abilities to write a whole book about any of these countries well enough to immerse someone in the culture of it all.

So I thought, "Why not do a roleplay?"
And then I thought, "What a brilliant idea that is!"

So here we are. Unfortunately, there is a bar-to-entry here. You can't bring your character, I'm sorry. There are rules involved in the world that you have to comply to.

Here, we have two races - Human and Sanguinan.

Humans are as they seem. Some have the ability to use magic, but only after devoting decades of their lives to the Gods. After these "Magi" are released from their training, their skills are extremely unsuited to an offensive purpose, as the Gods can only supply them with powerful positive energies, making it extremely difficult to cause damage of any kind. Thus, nearly all mages are healers, specializing in treating the ill and injured, and protecting the young and old from tainted Wisps(wandering spirits). Humans are said to be the simplest interpretation the Gods had of themselves. While clever and effective, they are clearly very primitive in design and have many obvious flaws. Despite these pitfalls, humans are a hardy, proud people.

Sanguinan are a pale-skinned people with characteristic silver-white hair and bright, golden eyes. They can also use magic, but only certain kinds of primal and forbidden study. Sanguinan are more prominent in the ruling class -- Making up most of the royal families and wealthy trading dynasties. In some places, they are revered as a race "touched by the Gods", while in others they are reviled and treated as a subspecies. Sanguinan are widely accepted as far more clever, intelligent versions of the Gods' interpretation of themselves. However, the appearance changed little outwardly.

Magic is rare. Some of the players might have it. There may be sages or other magical figures that could be sought out for tutelage.
Technology 20%
Iron age
Combat 30%
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.

It depends on how you want to participate and what you want to do. There's plenty of battles to fight, or "grand quests" that need doing. You could be the soldier or the commander, I don't know.

This answer probably sounds like a cop-out, but it's what I intended when I posted the topic. Once your character is created, I'd be glad to drop you into the world wherever you want and let you go on your own adventure. There would be some talking, though. A brief outline of events so we both know which way we're going.
sure. but i'm confused about the character bit

Which part confuses you, muhdear?
Fair enough! I have a couple non-magical human characters already. Would any of these work?

Rook - Ranger/Outrider (usually played as part of a mercenary company, but can drop that easily if it doesn't fit the setting)

Brenna - Bastard daughter of a minor noble. Is there monarchy/nobility in the setting?

Glenn - farmer/peasant with more muscle than brains.

She seems like she would work beautifully! It just depends mostly on where we start her off in the setting.

Yes, there is nobility and monarchy. "Bastard daughter of a minor noble", immediately makes me think of one of the more turmoil-stricken countries. Meshal would work best, but there's also Akecotor and Nisea.

We can talk about it more, if you'd like.
Sure. Wouldn't mind hearing more about those countries. Maybe it'll spark a cool story idea.
Beldesia

Iam interested but unsure about the whole cant bring a character bit? I believe lakota- native american girl with a wolf affinity or my archer- robin would fit into this world but im unsure as u said we cannot bring in Charas?

Well.... let's hear it then! :)

Where to start, where to start?

We'll begin on the far left, with Astia, then jump across the Vivian to Eplait, just to get the two most underdeveloped countries out of the way before we move on to the ones I've worked on extensively.

Astia is to Nisea, as Canada is to America. Far friendlier and more open, sharing a border and many of the same ideals. Astia is also the last true empirical state in the entirety of Terra. See that little island off the Northern Coast? That is "Vallica". Vallica and Astia have a relationship like China and Thailand, where Vallica, to themselves, are already independent, but because Astia has many friends, they're able to say "No, who's Vallica? That's just more Astia! What are you talking about?" Astia's capital is Ermes.

Eplait(silent "t"), as the name suggests, is of European influence. It's based off of France and Britain, with the culture of France (neglecting the Reign of Terror) and a simplistic adaptation of the weird government structure of Britain's parliament. Eplait specializes in the production and export of fabrics, silks, and oil products. Its capital is Brisan, and it has a strong relationship with Adraeye because of their shared border.

Hmmm. Perhaps we'll pop over to the two countries I based off of Communist Russia, Ukraine, elements of Islam, and the collapse of government and economy. We'll start with Adraeye. Adraeye is more commonly known as "UDRA" or, the "United Democratic Republic of Adraeye". It's run by a Despot, who commands all branches of military and police, and makes all decisions regarding the health, safety, and happiness of his people. Adraeye holds a lot of land, but most of it is inhospitable and unusable, being either treacherous mountain range or unforgiving marshland. Adraeye is currently on the brink of war with Terra's only military superpower, Akecotor, for a string of skirmishes along the Northern half of the border. Women here are a confusing topic. Where they are outwardly revered as beautiful gifts from the gods, they are also heavily regulated and treated as property. Women must wear a specific frock-like dress and flat-footed shoes, and must wear their hair so that not a single strand is free. Police carry around string, scissors, and razors so that any woman seen violating this rule can be rectified.

Next is Meshal. Many years ago, the government of Meshal collapsed during a revolutionary coup. This coup quickly failed to gather the population back into one nation, and the entire place fell apart. The upper nobility of the fallen government, with their power, influence, and comically large wallets, hired mercenary armies from Akecotor and Nisea to settle the masses and bring order. Now the country is in a fragile stasis while a quiet civil war plays out amongst these noblemen and -women, who hold territory and fight battles, while the citizens of the ruined nation just try to survive. The capital of Meshal is Methen, a place notorious for bad decisions that effect... a lot of people.

Then there's the Southern Isles. It builds ships and imports lots and lots of spices. It's sunny and the locals are friendly, dark-skinned people. Nobody messes with the Southern Isles because they're cool people. Good place to stop on your way to Simonette from Veille. Capital is: Hephri

We'll finish off with our two rivals, Nisea and Akecotor.

Akecotor is based off of ideals from Japan, Rome, Greece, and Sparta, and some elements of WWI America. Men in Akecotor are obsessed with honor and duty, and those that don't serve in the military either go into politics in some other fashion, or become scholars and Magi. Women, on the other hand, aren't allowed to do much in the way of work. They are mothers and caregivers. They work in medicine and schooling, but they aren't to participate in politics or military work. Akecotor, as well, is one of the last places in the world to have slavery. Its capital is Aemona, but the most populated cities are those of Castor and Pollux, twin cities on either side of the small peninsula North of Aemona.

Nisea is a matriarchal kingdom famously run by the Ashking bloodline. It rivals Akecotor in military strength, population, and religious power. Whereas Akecotor despises and enslaves Sanguinan people, Nisea is made up of primarly Sangiunan blood, and is run by a Sanguinan queen. Nisea tries to maintain relations with all countries, including Akecotor, despite the fact that Akecotor, in part, helped put Meshal in the state it's in today.

And I think that's all of them. The Western Lands aren't a country. They're inhabited by barbarians and Akecotor just doesn't wanna mess with that.
I am rather interested
