Hello!

I've recently gotten into worldbuilding, which is the process of constructing an entire alternate world, be it just for fun, for RP purposes or whatever other reason one may have. My first world is not really a world, but more a universe with several different planets that are all ruled by one government, with local governments representing each planet. I only finished the basics, such as some entry-level lore, the way the universe is set up, the goverment, the social system and other basic stuff yesterday and am now moving on t o describing the separate planets comprising the universe. I was just wondering if anyone else has taken up this hobby or done anything like it, so we could maybe exchange tips and talk about our work!
Loads of people here wolrdbuild, myself included. A great way to discover just how many is browsing the hundreds of groups on the RPR. There's even some groups to receive feedback and such to help you pan out things as you go along too, which can be extremely helpful. Sounding board people are an invaluable resource. <3

My world that I've been working on for 1.5 years now is Tam'nýer—a'. It's extensive, but it's my first time trying my hands at worldbuilding, and I'm very open about my newfound obsession and love. XD

If you'd like to talk more in-depth, don't be shy in sending me a PM. I have Discord as well if that tickles your fancy. :)
Yep, lots of folks! Myself, I've been using WorldAnvil in a recent attempt to start scrounging an old attempt of mine back together. It's worth taking a peek. :)
Oh yeah, worldbuilding can be awesome--and it is totally the applicable term to what you're doing--it can apply to a civilization, a city, a country, an empire, a system, a universe even, depending on scope!

On that note, I have a pretty helpful video to share from a youtube account called Overly Sarcastic productions. They admit they aren't the best at it, but they do have some helpful tips I myself hadn't considered. before I saw it.

This is awesome. Mind you, I don't think simply one character can break the Planet of Hats trope. If you only have one character that means the majority of the race is the hat, but I found this incredibly useful and fun!

My friend Winter has a thread on here for writing tips, and I think you should post this video there. Definitely can prove useful to others. <3

Ah, thanks, glad you found it useful and fun, as I did ^_^ I do agree a single character isn't going to be as impactful to the hat trope as a group might be, but it's definitely useful if they ever visit their home culture during the course of their story :)

I actually did post it there, in a fashion--rather, I posted a link to the larger playlist the creator made, a playlist that has a variety of videos that cover a bunch of useful tropes to know, both for improving your writing, and avoiding pitfalls. This is just one of them that I felt was more specifically relevant to this thread. :D

After reading your reply I tried WorldAnvil and I have to say I'm absolutely in love with it. I've been looking for a worldbuilding tool like this for a while now, simply because it's - at least for me personally - much easier to organize than Excel spreadsheets or word documents (both of which I tried a couple times, but organization was an enormous hassle for me and took away all the fun). Thank you so much!

Absolutely! I'd previously tried building mine in a wiki, and it was working great while I had it. When I found out there was finally a specifically worldbuilding service with that type of functionality, and that basically has prompts to help you think about how to expand, I was so excited!
i world build!!! im currently building my own universe which i call Blip, seems like a perfect name honeslty. Im also building the planet my muse comes from as well as the solar system. The other planets i still need to do but i kinda have an idea for them but not really.
