howdy, folks! I've been out of my element in terms of my roleplays, for well...a while now. My original ties are within fantasy and anthros, which is where I started a long time ago- I've not been able to indulge in that sort of genre for a while now since I've been expanding my horizon, and I think a large portion of my 'burnt out' tendencies lately are because I'm not doing much that I'm most familiar with and enjoy.
I have around 6 years of world-building experience, and I've both created a numerous amount of my own, original settings and have DMed for multiple DnD campaigns. I'm also a novella-style writer, which means that I'd really prefer that anyone with interest in this be able to sustain a 4-5 paragraph minimum for their posts. Just gives me the subsistence I need in order to work with! I'd consider making exceptions, but it's really my preference.
I don't have a set amount of players I'm looking for this, but I'd like to have at least 2-3 players who are willing to commit to it if it turns to something long-term. I'm also chill with having this be something of a smaller scale and more laid back. Really, a lot of it is open to change and meddling around with- it's all just loose, vaguely formed ideas as of the time being.

x Semi-strict magic system? Magic is only innate within certain 'mythic' species or hybrids of said species, and requires an extensive training and upkeep regime to utilize. Normal species may be able to use magic with the help of artifacts created by natural magic users. In standard society, magic is seen as unholy and looked down upon to an extent.
x (Open to considerable change) Single, uniform continent? A massive body of water resides in the middle of the continent, which is both rumored to have been the source of the magical energies within mythic species and to have been the final resting place of the deity that created the land.
x Adjustable levels of grittiness? I was considering having a 'realistic' approach to the darker aspects of a world such as this, in which the slavery and poaching of creatures with magical aspects would be widespread. Consider something similar to the poaching of endangered animals and such in our world- rumored medicinal and practical uses, if you would. For example: consuming a kitsune's tail is thought to extend the user's lifespan upwards of a century, or to reverse any ailment or disease that would have been lethal. This is open to change depending on the players' comfort levels, of course.
x Religion is centered around one primary deity, but smaller gods are present for specific subjects such as harvest or fertility. A large portion of the population is religious- more so than not.
x Existence of normal animals? Probably.
x Considerable cultural differences between different species, and heavy racial prejudices/stereotyping exists as well. For example: Bovine species are considered to have no place in nobility, and are primarily seen only within the lower castes and labor jobs.

Magic is rare. Some of the players might have it. There may be sages or other magical figures that could be sought out for tutelage.

Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Hello! Iam naturally and usually an anthro/feral roleplayer as well! Untill joining RPR literally ALL of my characters are/were anthros or ferals. I have extensive years of expierence in both roleplay and also world building. I helped build and roleplayed in an anthro roleplay called Genemix, but anyway iam highly interested and have nurmours characters that would fit this idea- most not on my profile due to slots.

Although I tend to lean towards humanoid characters, I have some experience with anthro characters (as well as ferals,) though I would need to create a new character for this specific story due to me not having any anthros at the moment. I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre, so the world you described sounds right up my alley.
