Mine was the boyfriend I dated before me took me to Florida for 10 days. He bought me 5 string bikini swimsuits. He showered me with so much affection freindship kindness and sweetness. My gift to him was I paid the air fare. We spilt the bill on the hotel room. A partnership between a man and a woman is one of the most beautiful gifts a couple can have. When you both equally give and share. Your freindship heart love soul spirit with one another.

I've yet to receive one. Valentine's day for me is just single's awareness day.
Valentines day is a few days before my birthday so usually I celebrate both. My favorite is when my bff and I watched chicago and drank wine and had cake; she's so sweet and everything.

At the moment there's this woman I have a crush on and I keep trying to work myself up to asking her out before valentines day, because we both know that each other are bisexual and single, so it's not like a surprise or anything, but I am still nervous; and uncertain if she likes me that way. She's partially deaf, and I want to learn sign language to ask her out in sign language.

Might I point out that it's the middle of January? Valentine's Day is in... almost a month.
Anyway, I've never gotten a Valintine's Day gift from anyone besides my mother. She always gets me chocolate, because it's on sale.
As an adult we honestly don't celebrate it. Both my husband and I feel that if you need a special day to tell you to treat your loved one, you're doing it wrong.
That said, we have a tradition of finding the least romantic movie we can (usually a horror movie lol), cuddling up on the sofa and watching that which I suppose you could argue is super romantic.
We don't exchange gifts though.

In fact really i've not had many valentines in my life. My first ever boyfriend always used to get me something, a necklace, a card. It was sweet. He in fact asked me out by making me the tiniest valentine he could in Geography class (you can tell how exciting that class was huh?) and giving it to me as we walked to the bus together.
I'd never gotten a valentine card before, I was nearly 16. I'd just never had a boy actually approach me like that and especially not one who was actually pretty dang popular.
Understandably a part of me thought it was a trick but no, he was very sincere.
I still have that card somewhere, it's about the size of a postage stamp, my first valentine, it's special even if that relationship is long over (we dated for nearly 3 years but university and his insane mother drove us apart)
He also took me on my first and really ONLY official date. It was hilarious because mid way through the movie we realised the people in front of us were in our class and they took us to lunch and dragged us to a second movie hahaha. Good times, good times.

But yeah, to be perfectly honest? Don't really celebrate it. I find perscribed gifts lose their romance value.
But I do enjoy our "let's not go out to an overpriced set menu meal out, let's just enjoy one another's company, get the kids into bed and snuggle up with a movie" thing.
We don't really do new years either lol. We're too antisocial to want to go out with *shudder* people around.
I'm not used to actually celebrating specific days much. But, uh, I did notice something odd will be happening this year.

I just recently finally got scheduled into a therapy group the my therapist has been trying to got me into for, iunno, probably around a year now. One of the days it's scheduled on is Valentine's Day. I mean, sure, I'm kinda terrified how the whole thing is going to go, but if the group goes well... I'll consider that a pretty awesome gift to myself. :)

(Not the first time something like this has happened. I also had a regular therapy session and a doctor's appointment to start finding out if there's anything I can do about my tinnitus on my birthday. Gifts to meeeeee.)
