I'm curious, are any of you nearsighted and do any of you use contacts?

Because I just got my first pair yesterday and I've noticed that while I can now see the television and kitchen and can still see people...I cannot see close up with them on, which is REALLY weird because I always could in glasses.

Does any of you have that issue as well or is it just me?
I don't have that particular issue with contacts. I think my vision is just a smidgen better with my contacts both far and near (vs my glasses). Might want to mention it to your eye doctor.
I could never get past the difficulty of putting something in my eye, so I wear glasses, but I just wanted to say that this sounds like the title to a hilarious science fiction movie. XD

That issue aside, I do hope you get it figured out! I wonder if there are bifocal contacts.
I am incredibly near sighted. So much in fact, that my doctor has to remind me of the symptoms of retinal detachment. I’ve been in glasses since age four and contacts since seventh grade.

Without glasses, I literally have to hold things right in front of my nose to see it. With contacts, I have peripheral vision(I don’t have it with glasses) and I can see far away. I don’t have issues seeing things close up unless I hold it super close to my face. The latter being unnecessary because I can see at a reasonable distance. XD

*ahem, didn’t mean to post it a second time.

Meant to edit but instead quoted myself like a noob.

I am legally blind without my contacts because if my nearsightedness. I have worn contacts for about 15 years now. They have honestly made my life so much easier.

I use biotrue for my contact solution and I have had the experience of it being safe enough to put it directly in my eyes like eyedrops. If you have access to Biotrue and want to try it out as like a refresher drop while wearing contacts for extended periods, just check with your doctor to make sure. I believe it says on the package that it's safe for direct use because it us just straight saline.

If there is ANY discomfort with your contacts. Especially any scratching or itchiness. Remove them and tell your doctor ASAP. Do jot wear them if you feel scratching or pressure. It should feel like you aren't wearing anything on them. They do take some getting used to, but there shouldn't be any discomfort with them in. Also be sure to check if they are "inside out" you can usually tell that they are inside out if you see a very teeny curl of the edge of the contact pointing outwards.

When it comes to not being able to see up close, I believe you should talk with your doctor. Without my contacts I cannot see well enough to read my phone from a foot or so away.

With my contacts in if I bring my phone to about 2 inches from my nose then I can't read anything. My eyes won't focus.

I highly recommend informing your doctor.

Alright. Fortunately, I do not find them uncomfortable, but it is just quite strange how with glasses, I can read on my chromebook or phone absolutely fine. But with my contacts, you have to hold stuff like five feet away for me to see it. Its just quite strange, and I was just curious if that was something that contacts just did, or if that was a tester contact trait or something

Biotrue is one of the solutions I was recommended, and what I'll get once I decide that contacts are definitely perfect. I forget what the name of mine is, although she did tell me I could quite literally comfortably spritz it into my eye if I needed.

Than you, though, for your advice, and I definitely will be reaching out to my eye doctor about this

Testers aren't as reliable as your full fledged prescription. Definitely mention it to your optometrist. They definitely need to know they are inhibiting your sight in that way. :)

Update: I use Blink Revitalens. Thats what its called. Or maybe Blink Revitalize. Meh...

Yeah, I'll definitely have to reach out to her. Because I know classes at the moment, although mostly okay, are a teeny bit challenging.

Also, this is really off topic but I absolutely love your profile pic.
