There's a player that I wanted to rp with, but they simply won't listen to me. They have an overpowered Mary Sue of a character and refuse to bend to even my smallest of requests. I want to have fun, but they simply won't listen to me. What do I do?

Sadly in some cases you might have to cut ties at that point. If they are unwilling to compromise and you are not having fun, its just the best option.

Everyone has their own play style and characters, but if you are not having fun do not force yourself to keep an rp going when the other person(s) are unwilling to listen.

Alright, thank you, but what do I do if they report me?
I wouldn't worry about it if you have kept to the rules of the site. The report button is there to let the mods know someone is not following the rules, not for when someone gets butthurt.

Alright, thank you so much!
Anytime!
Yeah, reporting is not a bad thing here. It's actually encouraged for certain things that aren't rulebreaking even, like misplaced threads and just making sure people are okay if something seems wrong. The mods decide what to do based on context, and if you're only taking care of yourself, not breaking any rules or anything, they'll more likely talk with the person who made the report instead. But they're super chill.

That said... It is not your responsibility to make someone change to suit your preferences. It's okay to let someone know if something seems like a problem if they ask or if you two are making plans, but if you try to make them change, it just comes out kinda rude. If they say no, and it's really a deal breaker for you, just politely let them know you don't think it'll work out and go find someone else. :)
For the record I have hit the report button on several threads since I've joined for things like misplaced threads or other things I just thought the mods should see where no one was punished as a result. They look at it and sometimes mail me back about the subject but it's not a button that is used for only broken rules and getting someone in trouble. Let him report you, if you haven't done anything wrong there is nothing to worry about.

As far as your rp partner, ark pretty well nailed it.

Thanks again, everyone!
