Just a general question on personal preference.

Do you prefer long or short hair?

I had a haircut around an hour ago and cut off most of my hair. I went from having long hair down to my mid-stomach to just below the shoulders.

I liked my long hair, but it was such a hassle to just to brush it in the morning due to the length and it's thickness. Simply by spending one night in bed it got so knotted that on some occasions we couldn't brush it and had to cut it off. Plus, I think I look nice with short hair :3
With many people either or looks good! But personally for me I don’t think I look good with short hair. And though I understand it’s a hassle I love my long hair, even though it gets tangled.

That's very true. I think I look better with shorter because I have part of my head shaved too. It just looks so much cooler XD

Long hair
Short hair, every time. While my own hair has changed quite a bit over the years, my hair hasn't been longer than to my shoulders in the last seven or eight years. I'm also way too lazy to style it when it's long, so when I was a kid with long, loose hair, sitting and reading books in all my breaks, my hair actually fell in front of my eyes, so I shut out the entire world. Now I get my hair cut to about the length of a finger twice a year, which is a lot more practical for me, and suits me.
I've always wanted hair down to my mid-section, but Nordic hair is just super card to maintain. I recently gave up the fight, and allowed my bestie to take me to her hair stylist, giving them free reins. The result was cutting it up to the collarbones, and it looks much healthier now.
Short hair. But my bob cut lets all the cold onto my neck in the morning. Lol.
I haven't had my hair cut for like 10 years.
Little nervous about...posting with photos of myself after some things recently; but I really am tired of being anxious, and I feel like sharing my story.

About 4 months ago I went from having

It was a huge deal for me because the last time my hair was short, it was cut short without me wanting it to be. I was pretty much forced to get most of my hair cut off; and since then I refused to cut my hair more than an inch every couple months to get rid of the dead ends; but, during November of last year I felt a really intense desire to cut my hair because it was so much work to take care of my very thick long curly hair, and I would go through these weeks where because of my depression I wouldn't do my hair, and it would end up dreaded and tangled, to the point where I had to cut those dreads out of my hair, and it was messing with my self esteem as well.

So I chopped my hair off, myself, in my bathroom. It took me another week to fix it up a little, snipping here and there to get it exactly how I wanted it; but I love it so much, and it's so much easier to take care of. I recently dyed it blue as well and it makes me so happy.

It was really hard to cut my hair short because of that past abuse tied to my hair being forcibly cut short; but I feel free.

Honestly I think I've said this before (if I haven't I really shouldve!) But you're so pretty and I love your blue hair. Even the non-dyed hair was really pretty too... >.<

Thank you! Also in regards to your other post saying you're more confident with shorter hair, I 100% feel you. All the sudden I've been taking photos of the side of my face that I used to hate when I had long hair, and I'm wearing makeup I was too anxious to wear, clothing I was too nervous to wear. Cutting my hair really freed me, so I can understand you feeling more confident.

Definitely. I took a seflie for the first time since... I started English high school (2 and a half years ago oof...) And I actually looked somewhat decent.

Though I am a bit anxious since my friends/peers haven't seen it yet. Plus last time they saw me with short hair I got mocked for it. Tho my mom likes it so I hope it looks okay XD

First of all sweetheart... They are NOT friends if they mock you. And secondly, don't let what anyone says get you down, you're adorable, and have a beautiful personality.
I do love your hair btw.

I myself has long hair, down to my lower back at the moment. I'd really like to dye it ice lavender. Even though people think it's weird lol. It's not gonna stop me from being me.

Also, Mercy, you're super cute.

I've been all over the place.

As a kid, it was usually kept between chin and shoulder length (which is pretty significant, I've got a weirdly long neck), mostly because... I ignored it and it was always a tangled mess. I didn't want to deal with it, so I just didn't.

During college, I pretty much just let it grow. Once it got long enough, it actually just stopped getting so tangled (I've got pin-straight hair, so that helps). It was just generally in the way more, but also pretty. But it was super annoying when people would touch it, just because they'd usually make a mess of it. Like... it's not hard, my hair is straight, just go with it instead of tossing it all over... I also had just such an extreme A-line once. Capital freaking A. My hair was past my shoulders in front, right up to my skull in back, and I dyed it a dark red/purple/blue ombre.

Presently, I keep a varying-length pixie cut, and I've been learning how to maintain it the hard way. It's cool (temperature), it's light, it's easily stylable (even though I won't do some of what I'd like it to)... It makes me happy.

I would get a crew-cut every couple months, especially just before school. The last year that happened was when I was igoing into 7th grade. Before 8th grade I rebeleld and refused to cut my hair. So began my 'hippy' years. Dad was furious about me wanting to 'look like a girl' but it was the 70's, and I wasn't going to stick with his military ideals.

Fast forward to 2007. I was still rocking my long hair, and though the top had pretty much gome away, I had a mean 'David Crosby' look. But coming to Australia where I was sweathing more, I finally cut it off. Now I get a #1 mow of the head and face every six weeks. My 1972 dad would be proud of me.
Personally, I like longer hair. But since my old ROTC training, I've been cutting it short so I don't look like a q-tip
This may be the smalltalk forum, but why not talk about our character's hair :D?
I almost always go for long hair for characters because it's fun to draw and style (not much you can do with less hair). The shortest style I've chosen for female charas is a chin length bob, males get shorter hair but not quite as short as a crew cut and it's usually about 90's curtains length. And then it's moot point when I imagine everyone with Rapunzel hair anyway, LOL
I could understand how you feel. Most of my life I've had normally shoulder lenght hair because my hair is really thick and curly so keeping it long would be a hassle. I decided to grow it out but that became a whole other problem. Because of how thick my hair is and the new dye treatment done to it(dyed it blue), it was clogging our drain up so I made the choice to cut it form reaching my mid-back to back to shoulder length again. It had been about two years since I let it get this short and its kinda nice. My boyfriend likes longer hair on me better but also doesn't try to stop me form cutting it how I want.
