This Looking For RP topic is marked as closed, meaning it is no longer seeking new players.

The Royal Mile Inn nestles in the forest road between the port of Leymouth and the capital, Great Whiteminster. The road is dangerous, but it is a place of safety for travellers, surrounded by a stout palisade and with a detachment of troops on site. Buy a pint of ale, and swap stories with the other guests. It's a break from your adventures. Nothing bad could possibly happen there, could it?

Please reply to book a room. From the same person who brought you Dwarf Mine.

I'm in!

As a nudge to others that might be considering, Malcolm runs good adventures! So don't trust him about this being a safe place. ;-p
Sarena (played by Cherry_Red)

Please stat up Sarena and Akuma as D&D 5e (loosely) characters, 1st or 2nd level.

The inaugural post is in the Fantasy Roleplay forum.
Akuma Shinoji (played by wolfydere)

Okay I can do that!

Str: 14 +2
Dex: 17 +3 ((+2 for wolfkin))
Con: 13 +1
Int: 12 +1
Wis: 10 +0
Char: 9 -1 ((+1 for wolfkin))

Will get a post in hopefully later today, but just one observation I find vaguely amusing. I can tell Malcolm lives a lot further north than I do. Even on December 21, it's still fully daylight at 4 o'clock here.

So now I'm envisioning our characters live very far north in the world and it's quite dreary...

Can prolly post tomorrowz!
Hi there! I’ll be...
This ghosty girl here. :) I’m excited for this. ;w;
Brenna (played by Juls)

What class are you thinking for your character, WhatsInTheCube? Just wondering if we could come up with a reason Brenna and Derrie might be traveling together?

(Brenna's not a super experienced adventurer yet, so probably wouldn't have had a chance to meet up with a dwarf or a wolf-kin before now.)
Oof. What do you mean by “class”? I haven’t thought about anything like that yet...
Brenna (played by Juls)

Check this out: https://www.5thsrd.org/

Under the 'Character' tab are the list of available classes. I am by no means a D&D 5th edition expert, but will try to help if I can. :)

The basics are to pick a class and to assign numbers to the follow attributes:
  • Strength
  • Dexterity
  • Constitution
  • Intelligence
  • Wisdom
  • Charisma

The standard set of number are 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8. Arrange those however you like among the 6 attributes.

And for class, whichever you feel like "fits" her the best. Maybe Bard, Rogue, or Druid? (Those would just be my guesses by looking at her profile. But Fighter is always a good choice too if you'd like her to excel at combat.)
Oof. I honestly don’t
I honestly get much of it... So... yeah, never mind.
Hi! I'm very interested in this, but I'd like clarification on a couple of points before I can promise anything.

What sort of level of activity are you hoping to get from this? I could probably manage at least one post per week, but I'm a little apprehensive to promise much more than that, in case life gets hectic in the coming weeks. I'm certainly willing to try something more frequent, but I don't know how long I'd be able to keep that up for (daily basis-wise I'll certainly be unavailable Sunday/ Mondays in March, would that be a problem?).

I'm also unfamiliar with 5E (3E was always my go-to and I'm rusty), so what level of mechanics would I need to brush up on?
Also I tend to aim for the 500 word count; this fluctuates a lot though, and could be anything from 200 to 1,000 depending on inspiration/ situation/ etcetera. I'm most familiar with freeform RP, but I don't mind including stats and dice rolls, and it's something I'm keen to do more of for a bit of variety. Is this alright?

Look forward to hearing back from you! :)

Dear EarlyGrey,

I try to make a post every day, though sometimes I don't manage it or one of the players hasn't replied and it's inconvenient or unfair to move the action on before he has reacted. But probably a turn every two days. However you don't have to write much, certainly not a thousand words. Often you just need to assure the rest of us that you have read the forum and are still engaged.

I played AD&D first edition quite a lot as a child,so I know most of the rules almost by heart. I bought a copy of 5e rules, and those are the current version. They are there to structure the world, to resolve combat, and to provide rules for magic. However I don't have a rules heavy style of play, it's more important to roleplay than to combat.
Thanks so much for the quick response, Malcolm! I'm definitely willing to have a go at daily/ every other day - if it becomes too much for whatever reason I'll keep you informed about that. :) My word count will definitely be shorter and sweet; the larger posts are usually on a weekly format, after all.

I'll have a go at writing up a character this afternoon using the info on 5E - hopefully it's not drastically different to what I'm used to! Is the location using a particular D&D setting? Just wondering about guidelines for my character's background.

It's a standard Tolkien-like world with orcs and dwarves. Quite magic light, but players are allowed to be magic users.
Permission to join?

rolled 6d20 and got 65
Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, Char.

Did that wrong.
