THE LONGISH TEST:

Link:

An Enneagram Personality Test

I got type 9 "The Stoic," on this one, but also high on my results are type 2 "The Helper" and type 4 "The Eccentric."

This is long, but it's fun. I'd love to see what people get, if you take it! Place your results below! And any comments about whether you think it's got you pegged.

I didn't expect to get Type 9, the stoic, but in some ways, it does make sense. I don't let things ruffle me, even when they really should. I don't like to feel out of control.

Put your top types below!

A BETTER TEST (the most thorough and the one I like best so far):

Here's a different, much more thorough test:

More Detailed But Long Enneagram Test

My results on this one:

(It was a tie.)

You are most likely a type 2 or 9.

Taking wings into account, you seem to be a 2w1 or 9w1

Type 2 - 9.4
Type 9 - 9.4
Type 4 - 8.7
Type 1 - 3.7
Type 3 - 0.3

(See? A tie between types 2 and 9)

2 is the helper
9 is the stoic
4 is the eccentric

THE SHORTER TEST with "wings" and "instinctual subtypes"

Short Enneagram Test with the instinctual variants listed too

My results:

You are most likely a type 9 (the Peacemaker) with 9w8 wing.

Sexual variant

Top types in my results on this one:

Type 9 sx
Type 2 so
Type 6 so

Note: This one calls Type 9 "The Peacemaker," instead of "The Stoic." I relate to that more. But I do seem to keep getting 9. And 2.

EXPLAINATION OF THE TYPES:

Enneagram type descriptions
Type 1 - The Reformer
Perfectionists, responsible, fixated on improvement

Ones are essentially looking to make things better, as they think nothing is ever quite good enough. This makes them perfectionists who want to reform and improve, who desire to make order out of the omnipresent chaos. Read more - enneagram type 1

Type 2 - The Helper
Helpers who need to be needed

Twos essentially feel that they are worthy insofar as they are helpful to others. Love is their highest ideal. Selflessness is their duty. Giving to others is their reason for being. Involved, socially aware, usually extroverted, Twos are the type of people who remember everyone's birthday and who go the extra mile to help out a co-worker, spouse or friend in need. Read more - enneagram type 2

Type 3 - The Achiever
Focused on the presentation of success, to attain validation

Threes need to be validated in order to feel worthy; they pursue success and want to be admired. They are frequently hard working, competetive and are highly focused in the pursuit of their goals, whether their goal is to be the most successful salesman in the company or the "sexiest" woman in their social circle. Read more - enneagram type 3

Type 4 - The Individualist
Identity seekers, who feel unique and different

Fours build their identities around their perception of themselves as being somehow different or unique; they are thus self-consciously individualistic. They tend to see their difference from others as being both a gift and a curse - a gift, because it sets them apart from those they perceive as being somehow "common," and a curse, as it so often seems to separate them from the simpler forms of happiness that others so readily seem to enjoy. Read more - enneagram type 4

Type 5 - The Investigator
Thinkers who tend to withdraw and observe

Fives essentially fear that they don't have enough inner strength to face life, so they tend to withdraw, to retreat into the safety and security of the mind where they can mentally prepare for their emergence into the world. Fives feel comfortable and at home in the realm of thought. They are generally intelligent, well read and thoughtful and they frequently become experts in the areas that capture their interest. Read more - enneagram type 5

Type 6 - The Loyalist
Conflicted between trust and distrust

Sixes essentially feel insecure, as though there is nothing quite steady enough to hold onto. At the core of the type Six personality is a kind of fear or anxiety. Sixes don't trust easily; they are often ambivalent about others, until the person has absolutely proven herself, at which point they are likely to respond with steadfast loyalty. Read more - enneagram type 6

Type 7 - The Enthusiast
Pleasure seekers and planners, in search of distraction

Sevens are essentially concerned that their lives be an exciting adventure. They are future oriented, restless people who are generally convinced that something better is just around the corner. They are quick thinkers who have a great deal of energy and who make lots of plans. They tend to be extroverted, multi-talented, creative and open minded. Read more - enneagram type 7

Type 8 - The Challenger
Taking charge, because they don't want to be controlled

Eights are essentially unwilling to be controlled, either by others or by their circumstances; they fully intend to be masters of their fate. Eights are strong willed, decisive, practical, tough minded and energetic. They also tend to be domineering; their unwillingness to be controlled by others frequently manifests in the need to control others instead. Read more - enneagram type 8

Type 9 - The Peacemaker
Keeping peace and harmony

Nines essentially feel a need for peace and harmony. They tend to avoid conflict at all costs, whether it be internal or interpersonal. As the potential for conflict in life is virtually ubiquitous, the Nine's desire to avoid it generally results in some degree of withdrawal from life, and many Nines are, in fact, introverted. Other Nines lead more active, social lives, but nevertheless remain to some to degree "checked out," or not fully involved, as if to insulate themselves from threats to their peace of mind. EXPLAINATION OF "INSTINCTUAL VARIANTS":

"Instinctual variants

The instinctual variants of the enneagram, the self-preservation, sexual and social instincts.

In addition to the Enneagram type, people are also considered to be one of three instinctual variants (also called subtypes). The self-preservation instinct (dealing with oneself), the sexual (dealing with another person) and the social instinct (dealing with a group) can be most pronounced.

Self-preservation variant

People of the self-preservation variant are generally trying to be comfortable and independent. Their well-being is very important to them, so they pay much attention to their health, house and financial position. They are less interested in interpersonal contact, and are typically less spontaneous and don't show as much emotion as people of the other two subtypes of their enneagram type.

Sexual variant

People of the sexual variant are very much interested in one to one contacts. They are looking for intimacy and this may show in sexuality, though not necessarily. Being in a relationship is very important to them. They are the most passionate of the subtypes, being temperamental and having more energy. They have less of a problem with getting into a fight and care less about rules and responsibility.

Social Variant

People of the social variant prefer to be in groups or teams. They are more interested than the other subtypes in the position that they and others have in a group, and are consequently concerned with status. Wanting to be accepted, they try to fit in and be nice.

Note: A word of caution -- I recommend that you DON'T buy into the culty "trying to sell you stuff" for your Enneagram Type part of it.

But that issue aside, it can be quite interesting! Have fun!
I took the test from the first link, and got type 5.

I was actually slightly bothered by the test, because I felt a definite lack of context for some of the questions, since my answer would very heavily depend on the situation.

I agree and disagree with this because I am a very calm person I've always been, it's my greatest strength and my greatest strength, because I've always been able to calm myself no matter what situation I've been in it, but I never really know how to not be calm

and the reason I strongly disagree is that it has aggressiveness up there as my top 3 right next to my 87% calmness
And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't aggressiveness and calmness like opposites? XD
Apparently I'm a 5w6 (The Investigator + The Loyalist = The Problem Solver.)

Although I agree with Penholder; a lot of personality inventories need more context. They're fun to run through, anyways.

That's true. I felt that way about some of the questions too. It's like "something something care about safety or take risks..." And it's like, well, are we talking about a walking alone downtown at night or eating day old pizza? Because it'll be different answers! :) Thanks for playing.

Interesting!!!

Well...first of all, I relate to what you just said about calmness, so I guess maybe I really am a 9.

I'll get a KIND of social anxiety but there's a kind of extreme calmness too, like "whatever's going to happen's going to happen." When a random guy climbed over my mom's back porch gate and wanted into the apartment, then sat down on the porch, and I had to call the cops, I was confusingly calm. I always am with things like that. But at the same time -- I don't show emotion. I don't send the signals that tell people "stop that," or "do this," because I want to be all detatched and chill and unaffected. Maybe this doesn't seem like me, on here, but that's how I feel like I am, in person. I show enthusiasm, but no vulnerable emotions, and I don't freak out when someone is pissing me off. Which, as I think you are saying, can be a disadvantage when you're not being able to react any other way when another way is called for. I relate! So stoic/peacemaker could fit? For you and I, both...

Second of all, hmmmm!...I wonder if by "aggressive" the writers of this mean aggressive not in a reactive or angry way, but in a "going after what you want" way. Something more like assertive, maybe. And, weirdly, calmness CAN help people not be timid. It can help people be assertive, instead of hanging back from anxiety about a decision. So...maybe not opposites? But weird wording I think, IF that's even what they meant. I'm just guessing.

Plus "Adventurousness" says 70% so it looks like that's your second highest one after "calmness." The "aggressiveness" says 50%, it's just next to it cuz it's type 8.

Yeah. They do and they are! Thanks for doing it! It's fun for me to read peoples' results.
I've taken all three.

The first one: type 2
The second one: type 6w7
The third one: type 9w1 )

Pretty much, I'm a mix of these three, which seems to be true. However, I'm not sure about the wing aspect of the last two. Kind of creepy on how somewhat accurate these tests were.
Okay, I decided to take the last two tests (since the first one I REALLY had to think on, and I'm too tired right now), and this is what I ended up getting:

Longer Test Results:

You are most likely a type 1 or 4.

Taking wings into account, you seem to be a 1w2.

Type 1 - 10.7
Type 4 - 10.7
Type 6 - 10
Type 2 - 8
Type 8 - 7.4
Type 5 - 6.7
Type 7 - 2.7

1 is the Reformer.
4 is the Individualist.
6 is the Loyalist.
Shorter Test Results:

You are most likely a type 6 (the Loyalist) with 6w5 wing, self-preservation variant.

Honestly, I feel that both the Loyalist and the Reformer suit me well enough, as they basically describe my core personality to a T. The Individualist is a very nice touch, though.
You are most likely a type 6.

Taking wings into account, you seem to be a 6w5

Type 6 - 10.4
Type 5 - 8.1
Type 4 - 7.7
Type 3 - 7.4
Type 2 - 7
Type 9 - 5.7
Type 7 - 5.1

It says I'm a loyalist and caught between trust and distrust. Pretty much means I'm loyal but have anxiety about whether I should trust people or not and feel anxious about the attention I get being tied to my self worth

Which makes sense.

Right now I'm feeling very ignored by the people in most of the spaces I occupy online and in real life and don't know what to do. Feel like I should just shut up and leave you know?

So that fits me well.
I personally don't believe these tests are reliable/accurate and I've written essays about it, but they're still fun to do! Let's see if my results have changed...

So, off the bat, I noticed the test changed. I'm familiar with the similar minds version and it never used to feature health in the past. For some reason it's telling me "Your level of health is very low, i.e. very unhealthy" and I honestly can't discern how it came to that conclusion. None of the questions had anything to do with fitness or diet. Odd.

Type 1 Orderliness 78%
Type 2 Helpfulness 54%
Type 3 Image Focus 38%
Type 4 Individualism 58%
Type 5 Intellectualism 50%
Type 6 Security Focus 46%
Type 7 Adventurousness 62%
Type 8 Aggressiveness 54%
Type 9 Calmness 46%

I'm a type 1, but I'd argue that being orderly and clean is a very small part of my personality. In fact it's more of a hobby or habit than a personality, in my opinion. I'm surprised that adventurousness wasn't higher but the rest feels accurate. My scores on intellectualism and calmness suffered a lot thanks to my experience with college so far. I used to score so high on those, lol.

Oh, also I hate how all of the questions about helpfulness make it sound like prioritizing other people over yourself is necessary to be helpful. I love helping people and I think kindness is so important, but I am not a doormat. It's a shame that this test thinks you need to be a doormat in order to be considered helpful.

As for the second test:

Type 4 - 8
Type 6 - 7.7
Type 5 - 7.4
Type 2 - 6.7
Type 9 - 6.1
Type 1 - 5.7
Type 3 - 4.4
Type 7 - 2.7

I don't know why this one had such different results. I don't know how I feel about the results either, I'm not familiar with the "wing" things. I do know that I was really torn on a lot of the statements and also a bit annoyed by how many of the statements had two parts of them, like "I like helping people, BUT..." cause I found myself agreeing with one part but not the other. Anyway, I seem to get different results all the time. I guess I'm a changer!

I'll catch up on answering each of these responses soon but in the meantime I wanted to say, don't worry Deirdre, everyone feels that way about some places sometimes whether in the real world or virtual spaces. Just remember all the friends you have and that we all have something to offer if we can all look hard enough to see that in one another. Anyway thank you for doing the thingy! It is weird (in a good way) how it makes sense!

That "health" thing rubbed me tge wrong way too. I guess my brain skipped right over it because my brain went, "BS alert! BS alert!"

I agree that there's a lot of pseudo-science in it. Thanks for doing it, for the fun and games aspect of it. Also I see what you mean about the help = self sacrifice false equivalency.

So it turns out my wife Sandra is a type 2, which makes so much sense. "Needing to be needed" is something we both share and even though I'm a type 9, seemingly, I have a lot of type 2, too. So I have that going on too. Boy I need to read about relationship dynamics between personality types. I can't wait. :p

Good job y'all! At entertaining/engrossing me.

I think so too! The Individualist. Yep. You're one of the only ones that said stuffing was also dressing where you are TOO in that way back thread. Hehe.

I think I used that word right....thanks for doing them, yay.

Okay, so I tried this and got the results. Taking both tests, I've finally come to the conclusion that I don't get it.
The simple test is on the left and the advanced one is on the right.

Ahoy there!

I don't fully understand it either, and keeping in mind that it's just for fun, I will tell you how I read it.

So, in both tests your answers for type 6 and type 9 were the highest. So you've probably got some of the traits of both. It's like a tie.

Type 9 = "The Peacemaker," aka "The Mediator," aka "The Stoic." Kind of even-tempered, wanting to avoid conflict and make sure everybody gets along? Yeah.

Type 6 = "The Loyalist." Looks like the Wikipedia article talks about that type as being driven by ideals like faith and courage.

That's all I can figure out. I don't really know what the so, sp, omni, etc mean, though.

Anyways, it was interesting reading your results and looking up what they might be about! Thanks for sharing!
psionicburst

You are welcome! I'm not too sure about the two letter combos myself, but I think I may have gotten something...

so is someone who values integrating through society, sx is someone who has strong-willed traits, sp is someone who values themselves as a prime motivator, and omni is a mix of everything.

For the two tests, the first being the generalist one, I'm listed as an omni, which means in general, I can fit into any social dynamic, not be hampered by any weaknesses of any type. But the second test, the more specific one, I thrive on the self being the highest motivator.

I may be wrong, but it's only a test to gauge personality. It's just like I said, the one who can truly analyze yourself is...yourself.
