It would be kind of nice if I could look at someone's profile and see what date they joined. Maybe it's already here and I have missed it or maybe its left off intentionally but I find it would be something useful when examining a player I'm considering messaging about something. Perhaps some other additional ways to gauge their activity levels also? But I think were creeping into privacy areas there that are likely something intentionally not portrayed, as there are ways of hiding current online status already.

I welcome any thoughts, comments, concerns, or critiques on this thought. (Just try to be nice please)

As someone who likes to track Myself specifically, I think it would be cool, but I feel like using someones on-site history would be kind of useless for passersby due to the ever changing forces of life, and also because I've seen very few people whose first experience with roleplaying has been RPR. Also, a lot of people include their roleplay history and activity schedule already in their profiles as part of an introduction.

Activity can be deceptive, since a person might be really active in, say, PMs, but not in the forums. Or, like me, be fairly active in the forums, but barely able to handle much RP.

I can see some usefulness in join dates, although for particularly new people, a quick look at their recent activity can usually give you a solid clue if they're new to the site. If they started a thread in Introductions, seem to have just created a first character, have fewer or no activity entries... None are sure statements, but they are hints that a person is probably new.

I can see value in seeing join dates if a person in concerned that it might be a banned or blocked person with a new account, and I'm not immediately thinking of any drawbacks? Aside from some people may not be comfortable with it, but perhaps then there could be an option to turn it off?

Public join dates: No. I have no interest in making it any harder for newbies to integrate into the community.

That wasn't my initial intent but I see where you're coming from, I hadn't thought it might have that effect when I posted this.

I didn't think it was your intent at all! That's just the potential effect I've always been trying to avoid with features like this
